Is there an after market upgrade for the C6 nav center. I just bought a 2012 Gand Sport and the nav system is difficult to use. Is there a better system available?
I feel the same way. I take my Garmin GPS with me even though I have a built in GM GPS in the dash.. I know how to use the Garmin and it just works. If I need a function I've never used before, I can figure it out. Not so with GM's built ins. Not having to stop your car to make a GPS adjustment is a plus too.

I will be picking up a Kenwood from Crutchfield soon. It'll be a whole lot nicer stereo as well and I'll have a backup camera. Anywhere from 500 to $1,000.
You have to replace the head unit, nothing can be done to just upgrade or improve it. Kenwoods have Garmin navigation, that would be my choice. Or anything with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto can use your phones navigation.
Other people will tell you just to learn how to use the system but I've watched numerous how to videos, read and re-read the manual and it's just bloody infuriating. Even when you get it programed it has serious short comings like poor route choice, lack of coverage of back roads, no speed limit indication, the list goes on and on. The only down side to a replacement unit is you will not get turn direction on the HUD. Small price to pay and I never see them anyway because I keep it in track mode to get the G meter.

Well nothing is going to replicate that look, no. But let's be serious here, it's a screen. If you buy a Kenwood it doesn't even have any dials on it. So I'm not sure how much styling there can possibly be. Any of the aftermarket units you get from Crutchfield you can ask and make sure it uses all the steering wheel controls and all of that. You're Twilight timer or whatever that's called where are you have power to the accessories after you pull the key, that will work as well with the same module. It's pretty much a seamless swap, but no it's not going to look identical.
It'll work a hell of a lot nicer and sound a lot nicer too.
The low resolution display is really dated, it's too bad GM does not offer an upgradeable unit without having to purchase a new vehicle, especially with the speed of advancing technologies. My main concern with aftermarket products is they all seem to be a compromise with how they fit into the dashboard, hence the question. The OEM product fits perfectly, as it should.
