"C6 from 2005-2010 navigation radio clock stops after battery disconnect

Sorry to sound impatient but why can’t we download the fix now like you did? We might be getting snow in the East next week, so I’m storing my cars this weekend and because of limited space in my garage (I store 2 cars, vette against the wall and my wife’s MX-5 right next to it) I will not be able to open the doors to put the disc in the Nav. and will have to wait until next spring.

The weather started to turn nasty here, so I put the vette to sleep prior to the clock change, and I'm pretty sure the clock will change back before it's woken up. Some folks embrace the seasonal changes, but I've grown to hate the winter. And, it's snowing here today, at least a month early, FFS. Had to scramble around looking for the snow brushes.

I understand how you feel. Everyone would like to have the fix NOW. And I too am in NY and have put my Vette and Miata to sleep for the winter. HOWEVER, I gave my word of honor to Densonavi not to post the fix. It seems, as I understand it, GM has to send out some sort of bulletin and, I don't know for sure, but maybe copies of the fix to their dealership network. They asked that the fix not be posted until 11/11/19. Monday, VETERANS DAY, is only a few days away. We have waited for a year for this to be resolved. A few more days of patience is in order and what a great gift it will be to you if you are a VETERAN.
I guess patience is indeed a virtue!! Thanks for the update.

You are very welcome.
Please know that my post was only to let the forum members know how close we all are to getting this fix that we have waited for about a year. It was not meant to gloat that I had it and no one else did. I just wanted to share the good news that it actually worked and it was free. On Monday we will all be happy.

So, on Monday we download a file? What kind of file?
just drop it on a CD and burn it like a thumb drive? or does it need to be done like a DVD?
stick it in the nav slot or the main CD slot? do we hit any buttons or just stick it in and it does its thing?

You will download the link. It is in the form of a zip file. You extract the files and burn it to a disc (CD or DVD). After you have burned the disc, simply insert it into your Nav slot in your radio. The files will download in a few minutes. That's it your done. My clock worked immediately and set the correct time and zone automatically. Then I inserted my original Nav disc in the Nav slot and the Navigation worked as well.

I did not, nor will I, download that file and look at it as I no longer have a GM radio anymore to verify it with.

Well, the .KWI file is a navigation file so it may be legit?
- Various GPS in-car Navigation systems make use of the file extension .kwi, these are data files that contain information and resources used by the device.

OK got the file unzipped, and then burned a CD. went out to car and tried it and it was a No Go. I tried it with car running and in both the dvd/Map slot and the CD slot.
In CD slot it said it was not a valid CD.
In the DVD slot it said it did nothing and told me to insert the map DVD.
only caviot, is this was burned to a DVD-R not CD-R. as I cant find one in my office to use. Just found a CD-RW will try with it. Was told DVD-R will not work.
for those wanting the info/ link and instructions to try them selves maybe they know how better then I. I just found a CD-RW so will try it next.
"Click the link below and download the file.
https://tis2web.akamai.gm.com/radio/..._05_10_fix.zip
Burn the LOADING.KWI to a BLANK CD-R. Once this is completely burned and finished, go to your Corvette
#1 Make sure the vehicle is outside and the engine is running.
#2 On the radio display, press the Open/Close Faceplate Key
#3 Eject the map disc by pressing DVD Map Database Eject Key. Insert the Software Update Disc in the DVD Map Database Slot
The update will start automatically. You will see a progress bar on the screen. The update takes about 2 minutes. The vehicle logo will be seen once the update is completed.
Once you see the Corvette logo, remove the update disc and REINSTALL YOUR MAP DISC!
THIS IS NOT A MAP UPDATE< THIS IS ONLY FOR YOUR CLOCK BEING BLANK"

Seems there is a video that you can watch to learn how to do it. @rc51racer posted a link to it.

Works!!!
just used a CR-RW. Dragged and dropped file.
finished/burned.
when you first put it into the DVD/Map slot it says not a map disk...
wait 20 seconds and bam.
this screen pops up,,takes 2 or so min to do its thing, corvette logo shows as its reboots.
then ejected disk and checked and no clock.....then went to put maps in and then the clock popped back up working before I got the map disk In.

Thats no problem, I downloaded the file, burned it to a CD-r and it worked perfectly, I now have a clock, correct date and GPS back
A huge thank you to the coder(s) involved with this fix for our beloved cars!!!
