Default Service Column Lock Warning Light?

What can anyone tell me about this please?

It has started to happen on my 2007 build, ignition dead, warning light comes on.

If I lock and unlock again a few times, it eventually clears it and the car starts fine.

Can anyone please tell me the cause / solution? 🤔

Thank you in advance. 🙏

Search the forums or your preferred search engine. Its all over the place and could be different issues, especially since you didnt post any information about your car (i.e. year, mods, etc.). Is the battery 'fine" because the lights come on or is it fine because it has the correct voltage.

Thank you for the reply.
The irony is, I am not finding anything for a C6, only a C5?

My car is a 2007 Z51, only modification is an exhaust.
The battery has been checked, charging and it is all as it should be.

Thanks again.

What mods are done? Ever replaced the PCM? The column lock was removed on 06+ models? Curious and looking at your user name, is this a European spec car?

Hi
Mods, just the exhaust.
I have no knowledge of the PCM being replaced prior to my ownership, so can't say for sure.

Yes, this is a Euro spec 2007 build.

May want to check specs. They may have kept the column lock on Euro cars after 05. If that's the case, you may need a bypass or new column lock. See link above about the issue.

They came out with a service bulletin that removes the column lock and updates the computer. This was for the 2005 cars here in the USA.

BCM reflash to delete the SCLM system out off the car, since the later export cars have the SCLM in play for cars after the 2005 model (that only have it on that USA model).

The glitch, is TDS $40 account for 24 months only works if you have a USA credit car to us, and you VPN into the site using a USA IP address, so may have to go to the dealer to have them do the BCM flash.
Note, if they can not find the BCM flash for the Export car in the firmware list to delete the SLCM out of the system, then just need to call up A/C Delco to have them write it for your vin, that they can pull down via VIC flash method.

As for for why the SCLM reflash to remove if from the system, GM not longer has the replacement SCLM module (what is going south on your car), so the reflash is their solution to the problem now.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-from-gm.html
And again, on the USA models, only the 2005 cars had the SCLM system, while on the export models, that system was in the later than 2005 cars instead.

i live in ohio near cleveland. car stopped on the street, had it towed to serpentini chevy in strongsville. great personnel there, vette mechanic the best around. cost $400.00, don't know what he did, but no problems since. i previously bought the by pass module, installed myself, but the problem continued. find a good dealer! mine was a 2005.

The steering column lock eliminator only resolves problem in the steering lock motor assembly, not the black box that it plugs into (the SCLM). Since GM not longer has either the lock, nor the modules, its the reason for the BCM flash to just take the whole locking system out of play.
