I realize we don't have any real data to go by, but based on what Tadge said a few weeks ago we can expect the C7 to do 0-60 in less then 4 seconds.
Now here is the question, the 2013 GS turn the 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. What are your expectations on the 0-60 time in the C7. Also what about 1/4 mile times? Again the GS is rated at a 12.3 @ 115.6 MPH
I am thinking maybe a 3.8 in the 0-60 and for the 1/4 mile 11.9
Well, the 0-60 is only one very small number in the performance. The real performance bump is going to be the ride and handling. With the stiffer frame and stronger yet lighter suspension parts, add that the weight has been pushed lower and centered in the car, this thing is going to glide on rails.
What all of that means, for those that are disappointed with the estimated HP of this car, is that you will get to actually use more horsepower than on the previous car. It will feel like 500+ ponies. I think that is going to be the real difference in this car.
That would be C6Z territory. Unless they seriously underestimated HP or exaggerated weight OR newer technology allows them to put the power down MUCH more effectively (more likely scenario) then no way. I actually hope that it is the latter and you are correct. That would mean a C7Z with similar technology would run low 3 seconds right along with the C6ZR1, with less HP.
0-60 times are useless when you get into cars that are traction limited. Look at 1/4 mile and trap speed.
They may be useless, but almost every manufacture post them as well as every automotive magazine. I believe a lot of people use it as a way of measuring different competitors.
I suppose I could have including projected 1/4 mile times also.
I had a 08 with duel mode opt 2.73 and auto. Now have GS A6 and I dont see how this heavier car is faster than base with same motor. It stops better and corners better but how do you carry all the extra weight and get down the 1/4 mile better? Haven't taken the GS to the track yet.
The torque on the low end is supposed to mimic the LS7, i'd go with 3.7 0-60 and a mid 11 1/4mile
Torque is the major factor in low speed acceleration (assuming you can get it to the ground), so I'd think the C7 would be better than the GS and close to the C6Z.
