He's stated this several times without alot of extra fluff on it. Will not name a source. And dared several guys to come back and call him on it when the final numbers are released. He also goes on to add there will not be a LS7 type engine for the Stingray series. It will be only be a 6.2L V8.. N/A or Supercharged all the way thru 2019.

This information matches up EXACTLY with what Keeks told us. Two engines.. base car & hi-performance model.. LT1 & LT4. Keek's CAD drawings even showed the two different engines in the bay. We've seen the real thing and it looks exactly like Keeks drawing with the LT1 installed. Why would doubt the LT4.

I think we have our information gentlemen. You guys can continue to ponder.. but if I was a betting man.. I'd say a 470hp LT1 & 660hp LT4.. and a 2015 ZR1 model are exactly what will get announced sometime this year. Goodbye Z06 & 427!
I still think they will have something in between around 560-575 HP.

It would make sense if peak power were at ~6600 RPM the rev limit would be around ~7200 RPM wouldn't it? So perhaps both statements are true?

If the rev limit were at ~6600 RPM then the peak power would likely be a lot lower, <= ~6000 RPM I would think (which seems to be more plausible and would line up with GM's chart)

I know there's been certain vehicles in the past that used an artificially low rev limit as a means to handicap power (i.e. Japan's 300 bhp "gentleman's agreements") however that's obviously unlikely in this case...

Really makes no sense when you think about it Sam. The LS7 served pretty much only one purpose, for use in the C6Z06. Which itself only sold to a very niche market. In 2013 we did see the LS7 used in the 427 Vert & in 2014 we will see it in the Z28. But outside of that.. the LS7 was way too exclusive, expensive and exotic. Its a $14,000 crate motor compared to the $6000 LS3 crate motor. An even if you were going the crate motor route for $6500 you could buy a 480hp LS3 with a hot cam.. or if you were looking for BIG power you go with the LSX. Meaning the $14,000 LS7 wasnt a very popular choice. Do I even need mention the LS7 valve issues?

Sticking with the 6.2L LT1 & LT4. GM is able to reduce "hi-performance" engine costs significantly. They can essentially use the same engine in the Corvette, Camaro, CTS, Trucks, SUVs, etc. And just like the LS3 & LSA before it.. the LT1 & LT4 can be the bread & butter of the GM smallblock family. Smaller GenV smallblock V8s that respond well to forced induction.. allow GM to function more efficiently, while delivering the power customers crave. It will hurt to see the 427 go.. be we all know the future for EVERY car maker is smaller, more efficient engines.. that use forced induction or hybrid technology to increase their power output. The highest performing cars in the world use that formula (Veyron, LaFerrari, P1, 918, etc). These engines deliver the most power and/or are the most fuel efficient.

The big block 427 was already a dinosaur. Now its looking the small block 427 will be a dinosaur too.

Anyone else cringe at "better hp/liter than the ls7"? What are we the civic crowd?

If believe 470hp that's totally believable on the high range but still believable. I wonder what will happen with tunes and mods. I bet with headers and a tune the lt1 gets close to 475rwhp.

I agree, I dont think we will see the LS7 but I do think there will be an NA car and it will need 550 to 580 hp and the FI around 650 to 700 hp. Just not sure what the details will be...of course I could be way wrong!

I hope GM does produce a Z06 replacement. I can't swing a ZR1 priced vehicle and I wanted to "step up" to a higher horsepower car than the Stingray model. Sigh...........

Not only that I prefer big NA motor vs FI. For a weekend car FI would be great but I want a DD and just have always been paranoid about DDing an FI car past warranty.

100 HP/liter should not be that big of a deal with current technology. I have a new 1 liter sportbike in my garage that makes very close to 200/liter.

M-B SLS AMG GT Black has a 622 HP NA 6.2L V8 engine. 100.32258 HP/L. And the engine only weighs 452 lbs and is DOHC. But it's low tech as it doesn't have AFM and only gets 19 MPG highway.

Precisely! So why is it so difficult for some Corvette enthusiasts to imagine a 6.2L, LT1 in a C7 having 475 or 500 N/A?
