just ordered a rival...
Enjoy your new Audi
I'll be interested in your thoughts after you take delivery and have some time with it. Specifically, whether or not you feel the car justifies its price. As sweet as they are (and they're very sweet), they're also quite expensive IMO.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
the 4S is nice, but i prefer the steering on the RWD models... my 997TT (AWD) just has a different feel.. not due to the AWD system but due to the suspension in front being angled 30* so the axles can clear.
my #1 recommendation are the "sport plus seats". first of all because of their comfort, second because the sexy seat backs (that you can color match)... but MOSTLY because the sport plus seats come "full leather"... the standard seats are pleather and rock hard and stiff... "full leather" interior is $4k.. but if you order sport plus seats the front seats are full leather for $800 (so you have smooth leather steering wheel, shifter, door pulls, center console, and also driver and passenger seats!)... the backs are still pleather but who cares..
if you need any other suggestions let me know.. i've ordered 6 different P cars in the last 4 years and well versed with options.
PLEASE also do not order "servo steering" or it might be called something diff now... the electric assist steering is very "Fake" feeling under 30mph... feels like a caddillac... i dont buy a porsche to have it steer with a pinky like a caddy.
my 991:

The TT i got after the 991... (better user feedback, but the AWD system feels "spongey")

To the OP, 110% agree with your comments. I have a new Boxster S which I love and I too hope the C7 turns out great. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Please excuse me, but I just feel compelled to comment about the Boxster S.
I really, really like the new Boxster S.
The car just keeps calling my name, won't leave me alone.
But I just can't seem to come to terms with the A'la Carte pricing.
I'm just a price per features guy and in comparison to others I just can't reconcile the cost.
I simply compartmentalize features and apply marginal analysis in relation to expense as part of my buying process.
The aluminum accents, 20" rims, chrono package- PDK, 14 way adjustable sport plus leather seats, Bose stereo & navie, two tone interior and the new brown or lime gold exterior color and I'm beyond Cadillac CTS-V Coupe territory. Certainly infinity and beyond in comparison to the C7 vert.
But I still can't walk away from this car.

And for those who do "race" you on the street and who end up not "spanking" you (because some of them may in fact "spank" you), why do you think they would be upset? Has it ever occurred to you that they could have easily afforded a Vette instead of the Porsche, but simply decided they liked the Porsche more than the Vette??
Porsche 911 is a fantasticly engineered car with proven ability and quality galore (not so much in the interior dept until the 991). I adored all four (including the CaymanS) that I've owned. However, anyone that can say that they are not overpriced and keep a straight face is either... 1) swinging too heavily on the Porsche ******* or 2) Absolutely delusional.

Of course, a car could do much worse than having things in common with an Audi (which Porsches do not).
