I bought an '07 997 Turbo used with 29k miles for $70,000 18 months ago (have since sold it). Was quite the bargain but I will say that at speeds north of 130 MPH the car is very "floaty" in the front end. Do not experience that at all with my M3 or with my previous Z06 and Grand Sport. Yes, I know, they are front engined cars and the 911 is not. Just stating facts....the 911 is not as stable at higher speeds.
The 997.1 Turbos had a known issue with their suspension design/settings, making them less stable at high speed and above about 8/10s in cornering effort. The 996 Turbo did not have these issues. Porsche corrected the issues with the release of the 997.2 Turbo in 2009; the 997.2 Turbo and is rock solid at speed and in the corners.

BS Notch. Every single one of my 911's (including my '05 997S launch and '03 996 Turbo) felt the same damn thing north of 120. My 996 Turbo had JIC coilovers on it and both the 997 Turbo and 997S had sport springs from Eibach. It still is not as stable at the front as a C6 versioned Vette or E92M3. The 911'
You talk all this BS on here and I have yet to hear exactly what 911's you have owned. Pray tell.
Number 3 has nothing to do with anything. It is a fact that Porsches today are overpriced.
great car, had the 991 when it came out in jan 12'.. put 8k on it in 3 months and sold it before any local dealers even had one.
the 4S is nice, but i prefer the steering on the RWD models... my 997TT (AWD) just has a different feel.. not due to the AWD system but due to the suspension in front being angled 30* so the axles can clear.
my #1 recommendation are the "sport plus seats". first of all because of their comfort, second because the sexy seat backs (that you can color match)... but MOSTLY because the sport plus seats come "full leather"... the standard seats are pleather and rock hard and stiff... "full leather" interior is $4k.. but if you order sport plus seats the front seats are full leather for $800 (so you have smooth leather steering wheel, shifter, door pulls, center console, and also driver and passenger seats!)... the backs are still pleather but who cares..
if you need any other suggestions let me know.. i've ordered 6 different P cars in the last 4 years and well versed with options.
PLEASE also do not order "servo steering" or it might be called something diff now... the electric assist steering is very "Fake" feeling under 30mph... feels like a caddillac... i dont buy a porsche to have it steer with a pinky like a caddy.
my 991:
The TT i got after the 991... (better user feedback, but the AWD system feels "spongey")
Overpriced is not "relative". Short of a new 918, there isn't a Porsche out there that I can't afford.
So, do you think the guy that makes $300K per year still doesn't think that a $10 can of beer at a ballgame isn't overpriced? Do you think this same guy would consider a $75 Porterhouse steak to be overpriced?

I like Porsches but they definitely are overpriced. There is no arguing that.

There is "afford" and there is "this is chump change".

$300k is well below the wallet size I'm talking about.
All of this "overpriced" banter is just a matter of not understanding the fact that it's all relative. I have personally seen friends of mine hit the blackjack table briefly on the way out to eat dinner and drop $7,500 on five lost hands playing $1,500/hand. They were absolutely non-pulsed with this nickle and dime loss. These guys being concerned about a $10 beer or a $75 steak? You've got to be kidding.

Many of the best things in life are overpriced.
Picked up a couple of dry aged strip steaks last night, they cost about 300% more $ than regular strip steak. Was it 300% better than regular steak........Hell no!
Sorry Snorman, i agree with Notch. If they are "absolutely non-pulsed" they would not feel a thing about dropping money. I imagine I won't care either if I'm dead.

Notch - There is no wonder so many people on this forum have you on their ignore. You just don't get it. Who said anything about being "concerned" about $10 for a can of Budweiser or $75 for a $45 steak? I said those same people that make $300K a year will "think"...do you hear me?....I'll say it again .."think" that a $10 can of Budweiser is overpriced. It is a state of mind/opinoni without any deference to relativity. This comment will be made by the guy that makes $40K/year as well as the guy that makes $4MM/year. It doesn't matter how much money you make or have...either it is or it isn't overpriced. I'm done with this topic. Either you get it or you don't.
The 991 is a very nice ride, I'm sure the OP will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
All the talk above about chump change, dropping a few thou at the casino, etc, makes me laugh. Reminds me of that old joke: "what's the easiest way to make a small fortune? Start with a large one". I'm sure there's a few exceptions, but most guys who put on a show blowing money won't have much for long.
I know quite a few wealthy individuals and they pride themselves, with few exceptions, on getting good deals, being business savvy. They hate paying list for anything, unless that's the only way to obtain it. They also do not brag about how much money they have.
Today I just ordered a 2014 911 carrera 4S coupe. yes I know its a lot more money and this will be my new everyday car. I absolutely love the C7 and wish everyone the best with it! hopefully one day down the road I will have one as well. I am still keeping my C6, which I still adore to this day. I wish everyone the best of luck with the C7, you all are getting a great car!
Hopefully, we won't see that obsoleting of the 911 too soon? Remember with so many model cars out there everything is very relative.

If "thinking" something is overpriced doesn't raise a concern about spending one's money on the overpriced item, then what's the problem with the price?

That is not always the case. The relative worth of something is decided by the individual paying the money for the item. The relative worth of an item is not the same for every human being in the world; there is no one authority who sits around and comes up with the maximum price for every item, with any asking amount over that price being classified as constituting "overpriced".

The guys I mentioned were not putting on a show.

So when one of the guys I was with gets the dealer to take off $15k from a car's $190k MSRP, you don't think there are people who would still say that the car was "overpriced"??? So here's a guy enjoying the game of negotiating (not wanting to pay list price/looking for a good deal/being business savvy), but still considers the $175k as inconsequential relative to the money he has (that is, the car he is buying is still not overpriced in his opinion). How do you assess him??
i think i will go to the p forum and tell everyone how much i love those porsches and how upset the drivers get when i spank them with my lowly american sports car. I started with porsches until i found how much all around performance and value a vette had. I will acknowledge the vette lacks snob appeal but i do not fit in with the snob crowd very well.
