$140,000 for a Porsche 991 4S? YHGTFKM......never in a million years would I spend that much coin on a 911 (and I've owned three of them already). I bought an '07 997 Turbo used with 29k miles for $70,000 18 months ago (have since sold it). Was quite the bargain but I will say that at speeds north of 130 MPH the car is very "floaty" in the front end. Do not experience that at all with my M3 or with my previous Z06 and Grand Sport. Yes, I know, they are front engined cars and the 911 is not. Just stating facts....the 911 is not as stable at higher speeds.
Porsche 911 is a fantasticly engineered car with proven ability and quality galore (not so much in the interior dept until the 991). I adored all four (including the CaymanS) that I've owned. However, anyone that can say that they are not overpriced and keep a straight face is either... 1) swinging too heavily on the Porsche ******* or 2) Absolutely delusional.
this was a nice, civilized thread for 2 days. Typical of both forums.
A Stanford Professor did a study about how snobs are the rudest people out there. They are least likely to want to stop for pedestrians, and it goes on and on. I know a 450hp 2004 Porsche turbo guy who can't and won't admit my 600hp Vette can lay waste to his car on the freeway. Now maybe it is partially because he spent $175 big out the door with his CC brakes, and taxes. But....he is on my ignore list at the gym, and has a problem with that too!
...the car he is buying is still not overpriced in his opinion). How do you assess him??
I don't, really. But I really don't get on CF to have debates, either.
Debating ad nauseum is for academics and politicians, settling nothing other than who is the more prpeared, more skilled debater. It’s a game.
Rather than debate, I might be interested to hear your first-hand experience owning a Corvette, or at least driving or working on a Corvette. Or if you wish to discuss other cars, there is a forum section for that, though likely you might find a warmer welcome right here sharing some relevant first-hand experience, if you have any, especially comparing them to your Corvette experience.

You're a bit in conflict with yourself, all over the map. Is the "him" you want me to assess a "car"?
No, the "him" is the guy buying the car. It's a car discussion, and people figure into the discussion because....well....people buy cars. People make assessments about cars, and they spend their money on cars. People are pretty integral to the discussion of cars.
nice...I myself ordered a 991 GT3, but would love to have the old gen viper (4) ACR! (and a Ford GT, 430 scud, superleggera and V12 vantage) Saw the nurburgring edition ACR on flea bay for $98K--i thought that was a great deal and surprised it was so low.
Wow, the 991 GT3 is an amazing car. It's just sad that they are not making it with a manual transmission. I'm like you and love all high performance cars regardless of brand. I just took delivery of a 2014 Cayman S this past Monday. The Cayman drives a lot different from my C6 (which I'm keeping) and that is why I bought a mid engine Porsche. I love the C7 too and will consider upgrading my C6 in a couple years when they put out a high output version.

I test drove the new Cayman S too. Very nice car, but a bit too small for me inside. the 991 2S felt just right size-wise and had a bit more power (which the GT3 will have even more) and chassis was even better than the 997.2 GT3 and RS I drove 3 years ago when I got my ZR1. Still awaiting allocation/build dates though
I am keeping the ZR1 so no problem with lack of manual tranny in the garage.
The fanbois are back and just cant keep from jumping in and stirring the pot.
Some blowhards (that are either full of themselves or more likely full of sh#t)couldn't resist messing up a nice thread. I am still happy for the OP and I am thrilled to be getting my C7 soon! To all the civil brethren...

I am curious. I test drove the Cayman S and it did seem a little tight inside. Does the 991 2S have more room for the driver or are you referring to it having some space in the back?
And thanks for tolerating all the posts that having nothing to do with the topic.

Definitely feels like it has more leg, shoulder and headroom to me, although I can't seem to find the official dimensions on their website.
I am 6'1'' 235#, so the Cayman was a bit cramped for me.

i'm just a lover of ALL fast sportscars,..esp. if they're a manual!,...and that's all the more reason why I love corvettes,..now down to the hand-full of incredible sportscars that you can still buy in a manual,...very sad,..to me at least,..that ALL higher end 911's are gonna come ONLY as the pdk,..yeah,..faster,..but also duller!,...I think the majority of folks on here are just dye-hard car guys and gals though,..and respect lots of other metal,..that always been my impression on here,..exceptions?,..sure!,..but most,..very respectful and cool about other manufacturers...
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
