More importantly; I hope that your surgeries are successful and that you can get a C7 after you're better
THANKS, There is and will continue to be a reserved spot in our garage for the C7. Just isn't the right time to have to look at and not enjoy!
I believe the cars are being held for extreme quality check overs, because they were either not assembled correctly, or they are having an issue with fit and finish from a supplier piece. All of you stuck in limbo, probably have all ordered the same option/options which have the bad supplier parts. Customers who received their cars probably didn't check that option.
I used to work at John Deere welding and assembling skid steers and backhoes. If GM is anything like Deere, they don't shut the line down for one or two supplier issues (unless it is a major part, which needs to be assembled in sequence), they keep the assembly line pumping out bad skid steers which either go straight into repair, or straight into a holding lot. This is where they can sit for weeks or months while they wait on parts, or wait for a solution for a poorly engineered part.
Also, sometimes, major rework needs to be done, and it isn't always the most knowledgeable people doing the rework. (I have seen and been a part of this first hand with skid steer hydraulic rework, and backhoe new model changeover rework). On the line they preach PROCESS, and TOLERANCES. On a makeshift temporary rework station with Temp to hire engineers, and resource pool new hires who were moping floors days before, quality is the last thing on anyone's mind. As long as they LOOK to be fine to go out the door, they are sent. With not a single hydraulic line torqued to specification, because no torque wrenches were provided in the rework areas. JUST CRANK 'EM DOWN BABY!
The only thing I can figure is these units are sent out to dealers, and dealers are told to check everything over and fix extra quality issues.
THIS IS HOW LEMONS ARE BORN. They will return to the dealer for fixes time, and time again. Eventually all issues will be sorted but it may take a while. If you are one of the lucky ones to not be in a holding pattern for your C7, you should be in the clear. Those flagged for holding, I hope GM is a lot better than John Deere Dubuque Works, in correcting workmanship and supplier quality issues!
Again, I have seen this first hand in a major factory employing over 2000 people. I hold no grudge against John Deere, it was a great place to work, but I now have a government job
I am just reporting what I have seen on a major assembly line. When everything is running smoothly things coming off the line have excellent quality, because people are checking for quality workmanship constantly, ON THE LINE! It is when things are done off the line, that quality hits the crapper.

So if it came two weeks from now it wouldn't have been worth waiting for? I completely understand REALLY wanting it but now that it is so close, why lose patience and cancel? That doesn't make sense to me. Based on some of the reviews (check out the R&T/Jalopnik comments), the car will be worth the wait

Need a lot of tissues and Depends in here...lots of cry babies with loose bowels in here. I cant believe how high and mighty some of you act, whining like school girls about waiting. At least we know you'll never order an exotic or build/restore a car...the wait is far longer.

I have decided to put up my first child for adoption! I can't get a solid answer from my wife on the due date. Worse, it took months for the doctors to even tell me if was a boy or girl. My wife and I cannot agree on a name. The whole experience has been an exercise in frustration.
I'll wait a year. Maybe the second one will be a better birthing experience.

I was excited like some of these guys while I was waiting for Christmas to come but I was only 5 years old . Man up guys !
I waited 54 years to get my Corvette, Enjoyed maybe more because of the long wait. Sometimes sacrifice makes things sweeter once you get them.
On the other side of the coin, consider some people are bigger issues in life right now like fighting cancer.

Quality Check huh
I think GM jump the gun and should have said cars wont ship till NOV under promise over deliver.
I visited a dealer today to look at two C7's waiting for customers to pick up their new cars. First I am very, very picky which is one reason I sold my C6 Z06 and been driving P-cars and other European variants. IMO both cars still had some cosmetic issues that should have been caught before leaving the BG plant. Both cars had uneven front-hood panels. The silver C7 had a 2 1/2 inch paint drip in the upper rear fender on the driver side. It looked like someone sanded it down and re-sprayed it. I also notice some other minor paint and body panel issues on both cars that should have been fixed before shipping. Both cars had an MSRP over 70k with glass roofs and no carbon-fiber roofs. Most launch addition from any manufacture will have minor issues that are easily fixed if you can tolerate imperfections. I know I am very picky so I decided to wait for GM to work-out the quality issues before I purchase my car.

I was ridiculed by some people on here when months ago I said I gave a deposit but clarified to the dealer that I won't want delivery any sooner than April/14, so they should not send GM instructions to start building until Jan/14 at the earliest. I knew that even if I wanted it asap it won't arrive until the winter, and at that point it will simply be parked until April/14 anyway. This thread reminds me that I made the right decision.
And when did you order? I was #1 at the dealer first allotment. first consensus and ordered #1 priority which was the first car to this dealer. Gave a sizable deposit (refundable) in May Supposedly GM/Chevy did not accept orders till the end of May. Went to 3000 July 8 and still there today with no TPW and seeing TPW's supposedly for Verts already being issued.
I'm typically not very patient, but I've ordered cars from the manufacturer before and had waits far in excess of this. That being said, I can't fault you for moving on for now. Good luck!
S.
