Maybe YOU have a 50k Vette, but where I live people have 95k Vettes like my 60th Anniv. 427 or like my neighbor's 120k ZR1.

I'm a C6 guy who has some older corvettes that are my other children they just happen to be on wheels. I've been dropping in here to see what you guys saying about your new C7's. On the topic of parking in public places. I got my wife a new fully loaded 2011 GMC Tahoe for being so cool and putting up with me for so many years. She had the thing for less than ten days and was seeing her dad in the hospital who just had a cancer operation. The hospital is in the middle of liberal, tree hugger land. The whole driver's side was keyed to a tune of almost $1,500 damage. Come to find out from the body shop its pretty common for tree huggers to key the big SUV's in that part of town. A$$holes come in all degrees of hate, we just have to keep guard for them.
On the topic, I have notice the people that tailgate me the most are young woman. And do I mean tailgate. My hunch is, they are T'ed off because no guy that owns a corvette ask them out. It all comes back to class warfare and its going to get worse.

I park mine at the closest spot that I can find. I think, if I treated my car no more specially than the others around it, nobody would give it any extra attention and will most likely leave it alone.

- Hey papa! See the cool car over there?

- Yeah, I think it's a Corvette. Wanna see it up close?

- Yeah sure!

Seriously, that's all there is to it. Nothing sinister going on.

People never cease to amaze me. There were ~10 empty spaces on the driver's side of the car, and (obviously) none parked the rest of the way down the row on the passenger's side.

I actually had to jockey the wheel the back out of the space. Not visible is the way the Camry is angled into the space with the driver's side front fender just over the line into my space. People can be such @ssholes sometimes.

Parking next to your GTR is the closest thing to a life this modest person will ever have. I know it's hard to put ourselves in such a simple mind. And that guy doesn't park well.

Whether it was one of my GT-R's or one of my trucks...what goes through somebody's mind when they consciously have to egress their vehicle in a nearly empty parking lot by squeezing though the ~18" gap they have to open their door?
If it was one of my trucks, I would have kicked the rear passenger door open into the side of their car.

That's probably the last time that smartass pulleed a stunt like that!!!

I can care less if anyone thinks that was wrong, so save it.
What an idiot.

No, not the other guy. You.

Will you guys please get off of the "special" thing? My Vette is nothing special, its a nice car that I like to keep that way. Period. My initial post had nothing whatsoever to do with any "holier than thou" attitude that I might have. Car cost has nothing whatsoever to do with it. I have six cars that are worth more that the Vette, including a truck that nobody goes out of their way to park close to. Its no big deal.

Every other car in the pic parked there after I did, probably to see the new Vette. (remember we were in the distant reaches of the parking lot). (The Camaro guy probably wanted to compare the taillights) Only the driver of the POS Buick, chose to park close enough that I had to limit the travel of my door to keep from hitting his vehicle. It was deliberate, but it didn't make me mad. Because its happened to me so often, and the car was such a POS, I laughed, and took that pic.

This is not a single event. As I mentioned above, I used to take pics of my cars all alone in the back of the parking lot, then take another one when I returned, to show my friends. I had several dozen examples of cars parked worse that the POS Buick, most were in my spot, very close to my car. I only posted because this one was probably the worst POS that I've seen.

Please take the pic for what its worth, a laugh, and stop analyzing my motives or the parker's malevolence. If you get mad at him, he's accomplished his goal. Its not worth the keystrokes.

The first year with my 04 vert I was so paranoid to park it anywhere. My first vette after years of admiring them and finally working and saving enough to buy one.
As time when by I became more relaxed. I ended up at grocery stores, home depot, the YMCA, etc. I stopped parking far away giving in to hope that my fellow man would have some respect for the beautifully kept and shiny black convertible. 9.5 years and 59,000 miles later I "never" received a single door ding. Lucky? Maybe. My new c7 comes jan 30. Im sure I'll again be paranoid for the first few years and evetually lighten up and realize I just cant live with that door ding hell hanging over my head. Prayer also helps.

Am I the only one that thinks this is silly? Its a corvette, sorry to say it, its not a ferarri, lambo, or even a ford GT. There are probably a half dozen diesel pickups sitting in that parking lot that cost more than that C7.

Someone parked next to you, get over it.

Can we please change the topic to diesel pickups? I think we've worn this one out.

I'm curious to check out the new Nissan Titan with Cummins diesel. Beautiful engine. I would almost buy two and take the engine out of the second one to put on a pedestal in my living room.

Jeeeeeeez, I'm over it, I never was particularly concerned. Read the post three above yours, if you can. I'VE MADE IT CLEAR 3 TIMES, IT WAS AN ATTEMPT AT HUMOR.

I am done with this, diesels sound great, let's go forward.

My biggest fault is not wanting to read 9 pages of crap before throwing in my $.02
