Oh god, I have no patience for s*** like this. If I caught the guy, I'd probably be in jail. It's not even about the car, it's the principle.

That sucks, where were you parked? Is it possible someone accidentally dragged something while walking near your bumper? Such as a pack-n-play?

Just a odd place for someone to key you. It's usually on a fender or door.

The repaint just wasn't as durable as the factory paint and it started to look slightly "sandblasted" after only 3500 miles because it was the leading edge of the car. Good luck.
looks to sand out not buff out! Buffing only does minor stuff!
looks to sand out with 2500 and then restore shine with 3m buffing and polish.

Doesn't look like it was keyed, going strictly from the picture and the odd location of what looks like a mar from luggage while someone was walking by the nose of the car. If it was keying, the keyer was a fail. Keying is done along the sides - not low on the nose. It very well could have been accidental.

that's just one in the many reasons why I hate people. Sorry to hear that bud, I got my C5 keyed with the work F'k on the trunk, I could've killed the SOB and seriously, had I caught him in the act I still might be in jail. I eventually got it fixed but the paint didn't match.

Good luck in getting it fixed.

Yes I was takibg up two spaces but I asked permission from the hotel management to do so and after he saw the car he had me park it where it was secure and visible by staff. Marriott has returned my call and claim there is nothing they can do because parking lot is posted "park at own risk" and they are not liable for damages caused... Good point, and, yes, I have had car covers stolen, until I started locking them on. I've never had another one stolen.

Also once my car cover gets weatherbeaten, I put a new one underneath, and keep the old ragged one on top. It looks awful, so doesn't attract attention.

Who are the people who want to let "non-violent offenders" out of jail?

Gee......now you tell the likely motive for why the damage took place.......

Corvette parking 101: NEVER, EVER TAKE-UP TWO PARKING SPACES.

.....thank you very much......witness is excused.......

That sickens me and I absolutely hate that it happened in my home town.
There is no excuse for damaging someone's property.

Sorry man lots of dumb jerks male and female out there. If you were out in the middle of the empty section with nothing around 2 spots is not an issue even if you went sideways and took 3.5 spots vandalism is vandalism. Expel man.

Sorry to see this happen to a Vette.I will not take my Vette out and leave it
unattended in any parking lot unless security is around.
I get sick just thinking about what happened to your Vette and what could happen
to any Vette when jealous people are out there looking to cause damage.
I hope you get it finished and it looks like new again.
Put a sign on the car, touch it and you will be sleeping with the fishes!

I feel your pain man but taking up two spaces (irrespective of how far away and useless they may seem) is just asking for someone to mess with your car. It just screams "I'm better than you and entitled to two spaces". I never do it.

Were these two spots away from everyone else or were there other cars around or a sidewalk possibly?

I still think it might have been accidental. Just a very odd place to get keyed, someone would have to bend down with keys in hand and be very obvious.

Well, there we have it....

In college, my mint 92 formula 350 was my daily driver, along with a Honda Shadow motorcycle. I lived in an apartment complex and parked the car at an angle across two spots, with the motorcycle sharing one of the spots. (Essentially not even taking up any additional spots... 1 spot per vehicle)
One morning I awoke to find the car keyed all the way down the driver door. I learned the lesson.... people suck.

From then on, I park waaaay the heck away from anyone, and find curbs to hug in any parking lot (getting the car as far away from the others as possible). I haven't had any new door dings, and haven't been keyed again.

Tough situation.

Good luck with the repair and the 'park at own risk' response doesn't surprise me.

Unfortunately, whilst the Marriott may have been cool with the two spaces thing, this gets plenty of people's heckles up and it just takes one person a few seconds to issue what they see as 'retribution for entitlement'.

Looking forward to the post-op pics

Just an FYI, posting a "park at your own risk" sign does not grant a property owner all-encompassing immunity. It merely serves to ward off 99% of people from pursuing any recourse.
