I would also like to know where you got your info stating that the automatic is faster than the manual, for the life of me I can't find any hard facts supporting that.
I was not entirely serious about the manual being obsolete in the near future however if you take into consideration that 60% of C7s produced are automatics and other high end expensive sports cars are no longer available with manual transmissions it is a possibility that the manual that some of us love could become obsolete. And when people complain about the demise of the manual transmission other forum members will and say they are obsolute just like the buggy skip and the CD player.
As far as the auto being faster CLICK ON THIS VIDEO and listen to the Corvettes engineer say the auto ran consistently faster times. If you want to skip the entire video jump to 22:12 of the video.
When you ridicule someone for saying that they they are disappointed that the C7 does not have a feature found in all or most other GM vehicles then you should be prepared to be treated the same way when they decide to eliminate a feature you like. I think that is called Karma biting you in the butt.
The argument about saving weight has been brought up, if weight is a consideration they should get rid of cup holders because a large drink probably weighs more than a CD player.
Two items. First, the vette infotainment system will read SD & SDHC cards. The SDHC class cards have a max capacity of 32 GB.
Most of the songs are in MP3 bit rates 192 or 256 Kbps. As many previous posters have said, in the C7 acoustic environment, you would be hard pressed to notice a quality difference between an MP3 ripped at 256 or 320 Kbps and a CD.
I rip all my CD's at 320 Kbps (it does matter on home audio) - is there any problem playing those on the C7?

Nope, not a problem.
Just make sure if youre using a USB stick or SD Card, it is formatted in FAT-32 or NTFS and the music files are MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, AIFF or 3GPP

Thanks. They are MP3, I have them on USB's for home use, but I will probably put a smaller sample - maybe 600 songs on a 32 GB SD card for the C7.
Two items. First, the vette infotainment system will read SD & SDHC cards. The SDHC class cards have a max capacity of 32 GB. The system will not read SDXC SD cards, which have higher capacity, so the max SD card size is 32 GB. USB Flash Drives do not have the same size restriction, so you can use a 64 or 128 GB Flash Drive. We currently have a 32 GB PNY SD card in the console of our C7. It has over 4500 songs on it and is still only 2/3 full. Most of the songs are in MP3 bit rates 192 or 256 Kbps. As many previous posters have said, in the C7 acoustic environment, you would be hard pressed to notice a quality difference between an MP3 ripped at 256 or 320 Kbps and a CD. For those wanting other file formats, pages 21-25 of the infotainment manual (available for download, and highly recommended if you are getting a C7,) contains info on compatible file types and restrictions.
Second, if you absolutely must have a CD player, there is an audio input jack in the center console, next to the SD slot and USB jacks.
On more SDHC card question - is the standard class 10 UHS card (like a SanDisk Ultra) fast enough or to I need to go to a class 10 UHS+ (like a SanDisk Extreme+) for it to play seamlessly?
Some folks have reported issues with SanDisk cards not working well with the C7. (folders not indexing, songs stopping, etc)
I know the one I use (PNY High Performance 32GB SD (SDHC) Class 10 Flash Memory Card) works well. I only have about 30 CDs on it (20 ripped at 320, the rest purchased from iTunes) and no pauses during playback. The indexing may get worse as I add to it...Im not sure.
The difference in price for a 32gig at 10 vs 10 Extreme is just a couple of bucks so may as well go for it. Just make sure its not SDXC and you should be okay

If that is correct I will be double ticked off because I just bought ten SanDisk USB memory cards @ $200. I am filling them with MP3s of old radio show and only did a few MusicCDs so far. I am testing them out on my 2014 chevy truck assuming that if it works on the truck it will work on the C& when I get it.
I would appreciate it is anyone that has a C7 and used a 32 GIG SanDisk USB memory stick could confirm that they work in a C7 I have assumed that if they work in my Chevy truck they will work in the C7

Of those, what file format would be the least compressed? Any of those better than MP3@320?
My wife exported a bunch of songs from I-tunes to MP3 format. I have ripped many of my CDs using a freeware program called EAC (Exact Audio Copy.). It allows you to rip variable bit rate (VBR) MP3 files while specifying a minimum bit rate for the process. I have been using this program for many years, and while there are now probably better programs around, this program still works under Win 7 and produces good results for me. It will contact an internet database to get info for the file ID tags, as well as search for album cover pics to be incorporated in the MP3 file. These pics will then show up on the info screens when the file is playing. I believe both ITunes and Windows Media Player will do likewise when ripping CDs.
Several people have mentioned SanDisk. I have heard of people having problems with SanDisk SD cards with the GM hardware. My wife and I are using PNY SD cards & USB drives, and have had no problems. Also, they are not the extreme speed models.
HELP! I transferred my CDs to MP3 then to a mem stick but when I play it in the vet I only can play some of the tracks when I single step through the songs on the album. What could be wrong that it will never play some of the tracks.
I too HATE the fact they didn't put a $25.00 CD player into a 70K car! CD quality is much better than MP3 at any compression rate.
Just because you have no need for it is no reason not to include something all other GM cars have. What about if I suggested that Chevy stop offering manual transmissions because most people order automatics? If they really wanted to save weight and space they can get rid of fancy touch screens and getting rid of A/C would be a good idea because I really do not need it.
PS I just bought another CD a few weeks ago
Right on! CD is STILL the primary media for purchasing music in a store. It sucks that they didn't put a CD player in it!
I'd suggest downloading iTunes or Google Music manager for free on your computer. Then you set the import settings for what file format you want when you rip a CD and just put the CD in the computer. After than you move the files to your USB or SD card. It's quite painless if you do it right. You should not need to convert anything. Both those programs should do it automatically upon import. Feel free to pm me. I'm confident once you get it set up you'll understand why it's much easier. Good luck!
Are you saying we can just copy a CD to a PC (by copy all CD files) then move that exact copy of files to a mem stick and it will play in the vet?
