Guy I have known at a club for years never commented on my C6. Yesterday he sees my C7 and rushes over in lot to tell me it's best looking Corvette ever. On and on he goes. People are just moved by the look of this car. Me, too
Ha, pretty cool. The lines on the Stingray do evoke some passion in people. It is a complete look. I love it.
You can wish all you want, but it's just your fantasy.
Yup, just my fantasy that C7 is getting all the positive attention owners are mentioning in this thread and we have people like you that make it obvious they can't handle it.

Awesome, It's not every day I win a "contest" I didn't even know I was in.
Seriouusly though, you do come off sounding a little bitter when you drop a negative personal opinion about the C7 that is off topic to begin with.
Not bitter by even a tiny bit, but how would you? I mentioned you by the comment of your "pity party" remark as if you thought we cared. My car is nothing like stock yet it's a C5 which has a large number of enthusiasts who actually wouldn't consider a swap. Yes there are some who would jump at the chance, but some of us BUILD the car we want cause you can't buy them that way.
As far as "Attraction" is concerned....we deal with it everyday.
The major reason for the huge depreciation shown is the change from C6 to C7. I don't believe it will be near as severe in three years as it will still be a C7 and the new ones will be too.
If you love the car, buy it. Cars are not an investment. They are meant to bring pleasure and, for me, they do. I can't stop grinning when I am driving my C7 or my 37 Chevy street rod.

What it boils down to is that we differ in one way - I have better things to do with my time and enough common sense not to go on the C5 Forum, full of C5 owners, and drop any negative personal opinions I might have about the C5.

Keep in mind that we really have no idea how old that C6 is; it could very well be a 2007. I highly doubt that it's a new car.
I have owned Corvettes for 50 years. Some used and more recently some new. C1's through C6's. In all that time I have never had so many people pay so much attention and received so many compliments as with my new C7. It is a Black/Black 2LT with chrome wheels and IPP exhaust. When I park it at a restaurant or stop to get gas it always draws a crowd. Not just young people but all ages. Their comments range from "most beautiful car I have seen", "I hear they cost less than $100,000, is that true?" to "how fast does it go?"
I don't know if it is the Black/Black that sets it off or just its sleek and mean look. Whatever it is GM has hit the mark with this one.
I have the exact configuration as you, 2LT Bk on BK, chrome wheels, and multi-mode exhaust and have observed the same as you, this being my 3rd vet. I think it's the new styling of the car and the black color adds a lot of class to the very sporty look. I always ask why the big fuss over this car and they tell me it's the styling. I'm not trying to put the Black color above any others but I do get compliments about the styling in this color and a few say black is the ONLY color for this car. I disagree with that but I'm just passing on the comments I get.
The good thing about the black if you are not into all the colored jazzy looking vents and black trim around the windows is that black masks all that out. So the black won't look as sporty as the other colors but it still looks sporty and has a nice touch of class.
It's not just the black, it's the car. My White coupe gets the same attention around town.
Yesterday I drove from home to San Jose to Fremont back home and got no less than 4 verbal comments, 5 stares that I saw and 2 different people nearly killing themselves to take pictures as I was driving by them. Apparently I miss a lot of them too, when my wife is with me she notices a lot more from the passenger seat.
It will end soon though, there's already more than a few in our city. Soon they will be more of a normal sighting.
HalfMoon.
Your white gives the opposite effect of the black and that bright white with those sporty black vents and window trim is an amazingly stunning site! I love white cars because of the drastic contrast of the darker vents and trim but at 63 yrs old in my job I figured I better get something that looked much more conservative and so I went with the black. Plus keeping the black clean at my age is helping me stay in shape. LOL!

This is a 2008 C6 with 15k miles, that was the reason for my visit at the dealership, and here is the thread where I was explaining that the test ride made me go back home with my much better handling Z51 from 2005 (post #40):
Everytime we go out we have people stop & make comments about our new C7. Even people who are not car people. I'm amazed at the interest and makes me proud to have an American car that folks notice.
Here's a picture my buddy took from his very nice TR Grand Sport...

Wow... the HUD in the C7 is VERY much improved over the C6. Not that it is a big deal but I didn't realize how much different it is now.
