My dealer just called and said "we want you to have your Corvette" and that they were going to take the $2000 hit. He claimed that he had talked to the regional sales manager this morning and they are still hung up on my status 2000 March 4th date, thinking that is the date that matters and not the status 1000 February 17th sold order date.
Well this is good news. I would guess, that best case, the dealer saw an error that they made somewhere, and are wanting to make this right. Or they knew what they were doing and realized that by getting GM involved, you were gonna turn the heat up on their seats.
I look at it this way, if a dealer is one of those that is trustworthy, they will insist upon all paperwork, and signatures, and copies for them and the customer on all agreements. A smart dealer will know that this protects them just as much, and wants everything to be crystal clear in the deal, as it should be.
Not the case, Sin City. The car will come from GM stickered and invoiced at the new higher price, BUT the dealer then submits a form to GM for the difference.
I work for a dealer. This part is accurate. Some just don't know. While some may try to take advantage. Our dealership sold a few C7s that were 1100 in the system prior to 3/4 and did not convert to 2000 until mid march. They all received PP.
You were at 1100 prior to the price increase so you are protected. Period.
I was at 1100 on 2/27/14, and was protected.
My MSRP sticker shows the $2,000 higher MSRP, BUT the dealer bumped my discount by $2,000 to make up the difference, so my purchase price was not impacted.
Assuming this was a non Z51, your dealer needs to request the $2000 refund from GM.
Post an inquiry with Customer Service on this forum, then when Customer Service confirms you are protected show your dealer the thread to educate them.
I would hope the GM has incorporated a check and balance, so that dealers can't sell price protected cars at the new price to the customer and still send in the form to get the refund from GM as well.
