Default Cell Phone Mount For C7

Let me start out by saying I've tried at least a half dozen different mounts and they all where pretty crappy in that they do not mount very well and if I could get it mounted the phone would shake so much I couldn't even use it. Finding a good stable mount was important to me since I didn't order the Nav in my car as I have been very disappointed with the NAV in my other cars and since I could get the better sound system without the NAV I went that route and wanted to just use the NAV on my phone, in my case I use Waze (http://www.waze.com).

The last mount I had found before this one was a Golf Cart mount that worked OK but was kind of cheap'o and did not hold the phone very well. I had mounted it on the passenger grab handle but it just barley latched when I pulled the strap with vise grips. I was concerned with the long term wear on the leather of the handle so I decided to look at other Golf Cart mounts and came across Caddie Buddy (http://caddiebuddy.com). I had contacted them ahead of time to see how wide the iPhone Golf Cart Mount opens and received a very quick response from Mike that it opens to 1.75" which is plenty wide enough for the C7 grab handle. I ordered one (http://caddiebuddy.com/iphone-golf-c...one-3-4-and-5/) for $24.93 plus shipping and received it yesterday and installed it this morning (pictures below).

I have to tell you the workmanship of this product is fantastic. There are different pieces that fit on the top for different size phones and the cradle that the phone goes into is spring loaded for easily inserting and removing the phone. Once the phone it in it's rock solid. It didn't wiggle or move at all while driving. The only negative I can say is that the way I installed it the fan speed adjustment is blocked. Not a big deal for me as I don't think I have even touched that in the 4 months I have had the car.

Next up is a small USB charge with a right angle plug and flat cable coming out of the accessory plug under the phone that ca stay closed with just the flat cable coming out. Stay tuned for that....

Proclip has one for C7 now. Yours is cheaper for sure though. And can be moved to another car easily it appears.

Pro-Fit International, BRAVO Bal BRAVO Ball (set of 6) is what I actually used. Cut off stud on back of ball and use 3M tape to stick to dash. Magnet holds phone very well.

that thing looks a little wild. I think it's too much...

I ordered this: Link: http://amzn.com/B00I608BJ8

It is not obtrusive and your phone doesn't need a mount. The magnet is enough to hold my very large Note edge (iPhone 6+ size) without any issues. When the phone isn't attached, it's a very small dongle that isn't too noticeable. you can also orient your phone however you want it. It holds up well and doesn't go flying unless you are doing extreme G maneuvers. I did have it fall off once when I hit it going into 7th.

That thing you bought looks hideous. Especially if there is no phone attached (the day you decide to keep the phone in your pocket or just decide not to use it)

Mine doesn't fit in there (i can lay it flat) I wanted it so that if I had the navigation on, it's viewable.

I really would have loved the navigation add on, but I'm not paying 1700 bucks for it. I don't need a PDR either (which I think needs a better camera to begin with)

I would have gotten it if it was like the '14s. I think they'll split the option up in '16

Hideous? To each his own but what i like about it - admittedly i just ordered it today - is that it will not mar the surface but can be securely attached. I have Nav but to me it is a pain in the a**, so my iphone will do just fine. And it is for occasional use, like on long trips, so the "hideous" appearance will not be an issue for me. Are you not concerned about the magnet moving and scratching the paint? now THAT would annoy me.

Yeah really to each his own. I see somethings corvette owners do to their cars and it makes me cringe, but they like it, then hey... What am I to say ya know? It's just very bulky looking to me. Pro clip has a mount that attaches very nicely and it snot too bulky. I'm sure it holds the phone well, but it looks way too bulky (it really wasn't meant for this car, but it works)

As far as the one I got, there is no scratching of any sort. the plastic tab on the mount is taped to the metal handle piece and the magnet on the mount is rubber coated which will not scratch the plastic or metal on my phone (which is sandwiched between case and battery cover.

Funny, when I ordered it, i was so excited about finding a holder that provided what i wanted - a clamp to attach it - that i never really thought about the looks. After reading your comment i went back and I will have to admit it is pretty imposing. But for me and occasional use it will work just fine.

I'm very ****/OCD when it comes to stuff like that, so I even had a hard time putting that small mount on my passenger handle. that's why yours bothered me I guess. I mean once the phone is attached, it won't make a difference either way, but it's just my OCDness lol

Default Proclip

I just ordered a Proclip setup, based on what I've seen on this forum, it looks like the most solid setup, and the phone is in the right place.

Proclip is pretty expensive - but I also saw on their twitter feed they are running a 15% discount until 3/17, using discount code LUCKY15.

Here is the grand total for me:

Left/Right Extension Plate 215183 USD $10.99
Medium Universal Adjustable Holder for devices with a Case Samsung Galaxy S4 246824 USD $39.99
ProClip Angled Mount 855034 USD $29.99

Subtotal: USD $80.97
Discount: USD $12.15
Discounted Total: USD $68.82
Shipping: USD $8.50

Est. Total: USD $77.32

Proclip looks like a nice neat solution and puts the device where i would want it. Two issues though, one is obvious and that is price. Really expensive. Second, it seems to need a screwdriver to attach it, and as an occasional user it would not be practical for me.
