[QUOTE=WesC7;1589774224.............I owned my first Vette when I was 21. Always had a Vette in the garage unless I was transferred overseas..... .............[/QUOTE]
Well, I live in the South and I'm the only fat old redneck that drives a Corvette. The others drive old pickup trucks.
I resemble some of these remarks! I’m 72 but not fat and in fact in better shape that I was 30 years ago! Also moved to SC in 1985 and drove pick-up trucks for 10 years while I was between Vettes. In fact went in to buy a new Chevy Colorado that had just been introduced and when the salesman, after making me wait 10 minutes while he called the district office, said can’t get a standard shift with the highest performance 5 cylinder engine, “You’ll have to upgrade to an automatic.” I walked out said “That’s not an upgrade it’s not an option!” Next day, called Kerbeck and ordered my ’08 Z51! Actually I missed my '93 40th Anniversary Vette! Thank goodness since that 5 cylinder Isuzu engine and the first Colorado’s were no replacement for my S-10 step side with HD suspension, quick steering and the chopped off V6 small block.
Now I didn't have gun racks or a dog box but tricked out my trucks and loved them! Still miss sitting up high on the highway and not having my radar detector blasting every time I pass a patrol car!
My wife doesn't like riding in the Vette since it sits low (which is fine with my, I like driving her SUV as well) but totally supports my buying whatever I want. In fact she likes the Vette better than my Redneck trucks!
I'm a 5'1", 110 lbs., 55 years young, female Stingray owner.
Stereotypes are for stupid people!!
Agreed, from a fat old guy with a fat old friend last month. As far as I'm concerned, 63 years old with the mind of a ten year old averaged out puts me in the mid 30s.
Well, I'm 52, far from fat, and my 14 Stingray is far from my first Corvette.
My wife was less than happy when I said I was going to get the new Stingray and started giving my crap about mid life crisis and only old men drove Corvettes.
I laughed and asked her what kind of car I was driving when we were dating. Her answer was a corvette, as I got my first one at 24 years old. I asked her when I did not own a corvette since we met. Her answer, never. So I then said I guess I started mid life crisis at 24, and 25 years later I am still in it.
Needless to say, I have the Stingray as that ended the discussion. She has grown to like this one better than the other. Then again all my others were C3's.
I'm 35, bought my first Corvette at 27. I'm at my fattest now, 6'0 198lbs.
As was mentioned above, Corvettes are not for old fat guys, they are for people who can afford them (it's not like they are "that" expensive).....The guys that have Corvette desires without the budget buy a Camaro (and I had 5 of them before the Vette).
I'm salting the game, today I took my wife to run all of her typical Saturday stops. I never do that as I'm always on my motorcycle doing our Saturday group ride. It's a Sportbike very aggressive riding club that is made up of people from 20 to 70 years old that all act like 15 years old when we ride. My rides are therapy for me but I skipped it. The smart play was taking her today in my 65 Vette, after spending the whole day getting 100 or more compliments and with her hot and uncomfortable feeling every bump in the pavement. When the new one comes in next week, she will feel it's like riding in a Caddy in comparison to today's ride. It should totally change her opinion.
