Another blown engine! Fully documented
Hello Gang,
I recently blew my engine 2014 Stingray, #7727 with 18K miles. I wanted to spare the drama and share the complete time line and major events:
1. June 7th , engine started making a lower end knock: http://youtu.be/FoUBjXrhtzQ
2. June 8 through June 11, warranty tear down, 4 blown bottom bearings
3. June 12th complete long block engine, torque tube and clutch assembly approved under warranty
4. June 16th new motor arrives at dealership containing metal dust in cylinder heads
5. June 17th GM sends 2nd replacement motor VIA FedEx P1.
6. June 18th Motor arrives at Dealership and installation process begins
7. June 19th Car is ready for pick-up $25K+ repair bill covered by GM
I only lost one weekend and now basics have a new car, thank you GM and my local dealer for the best service in the world.
RIP!

I herd a slight knock for a while, but claimed to be the normal DI knock.
The new motor does not have the DI knock.
The lower end noise came on quickly!

Sorry it happened, and glad that GM and the dealer took care of things quickly and well. And I gotta say, I like your attitude and the way you approached it. Stuff happens, and we can whine about it and complain or deal with it. A little bit of honey goes a long way to get people to help you. Nice job.

Yes, the new engine that arrived with metal debris in valves was a bit concerning. I hope GM adds some type of Q/A inspection considering the metal debris could cause engine failure.

I was thinking the same thing. Too many times on here you hear the screaming, crying, nashing of teeth, and I'm gonna sue the bastards. Stuff does happen, and you are so correct. Take care of it, and drive on down the line.
OP, happy to hear your dealer, and GM got you rolling quickly.

A pat on the back for the GM dealer that performed so well.
Question: What oil have you been using?
Dextos or Mobile 1 or something else.

Nice going -- both OP and GM. The way things should work.
