Nothing is excellent or good or about a blown motor on a $70K car at the rate we are seeing them. Its a shame in these days of computer aided design and high tech robotics a company like GM would have such a high failure rate. The cause is this, poor supplier quality making **** poor parts so GM can save a few bucks per engine. I hope they all blow mine included. This reminds me of Cadillac in the 80s when the HT4100 V8s were being replaced on average of 3 per day at some large dealers, In fact some dealers had a special lane installed just for HT4100 replacements. NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!
What rate is that? What % of C7's have had blown engines?

Take a look around in other forums see how many reported failed engines you find. Even Car and Driver had one fail. How quickly they forget. I know of three people of my own circle of friends that have had complete engine failures on new C7s.

Ok so you named 4 confirmed engine failures, add the one in this thread and that's 5.
So far you have confirmed that less than .0125% of C7 engines have failed, good job.
Bring back some real numbers before you chicken little any more about the rate at which C7 engines fail. And then compare those numbers to any other modern high performance car being produced.
On top of that the OP is happy with his service and brand new engine, I am not sure why you felt it necessary to come into this thread and complain about other cars/engines.

I agree, you make a good point. I had a similar conversation with a guy a year ago the number was also 4 back then. Funny how it stays at 4. Are we sure its not 40?
When i was looking I was at this particular dealer so I could have bought this very car. Not good odds for me. At the time one had posted about a failure and I saw another at this dealer with an engine out.

You buy $hit parts from $hit suppliers no matter the brand your going to make a $hit motor. The last thing Corvette needs is a $hit unreliable motor considering its nature.
Your a joke, the motors are built at GM with poor Q/a, nothing new

This is exactly how the Z06 engine failure started. Discussions like this saying there is no problem is identical to the Z06.
And metal in the new engine, wow, HOW does that happen????
The Italian automaker learned of the problem in a uniquely embarrassing way. The first of these models to have its engine freeze was the car the company was lending to critics to review.
Gentlemen, I am retired but I was in the auto industry (manufacturing, assembly, and materials management) for many years. I butted heads with upper management on several occasions over attitudes and Q/C practices. Things change (of course) but what bothered me was the hands off by UM unless it was to fume about something that got close to their personal wallets. And many of the young engineers would not listen to anyone who did not have PhD in Engineering, even if the ideas were valid and made perfect sense from the trenches. This are a few of the many reasons I stepped down voluntarily as the VP in one company. I admire the forgiving attitudes I am reading but from the view of an old head - this is the 21st century and finding a microbe in any modern engine is beyond carelessness. HRP - P.S. I still like my 07 Corvette even though it has stranded me four times already.
First time I've heard of GM honoring a warranty engine replacement without the owner threatening to get lawyers involved.
My daughter drives a 2010 GMC Terrain. Engine crapped out. Dealer called GM after the tear down and GM said that a new engine would arrive within 2 days for replacement.
