I have the same color built 2/15 .. hood and rear deck are ok, sides are all orange peel , not something I am proud of . I realize this is a mass produced vehicle, GM should be ashamed of this kind of work especially with all the technology available in the world today.
I know many people have had their cars sanded but with the small amount of clear coat you have very little to work with and are left with even less . As I see it the only real fix is to repaint .
This is my 4th Corvette and have owned over 40 cars, this has to be the worst .
Was waiting at a 7/11 for my wife and was next to a v12 Mercedes, maybe it was the color/black, but the op on that car was worse than my tr vette. Paint on my car is decent, no complaints...
A good detailer can really make improvements by wet sanding what seems to be the most common problem - orange peel. Others have reported blotches (especially with silver) and unfortunately that cannot be corrected without a respray. Orange peel correction can be accomplished, but results in a slightly reduced clear coat (more or less depending on the amount of correction desired). This reduces UV protection, so a coating of some sort (there are many brands) can add the protection that has been lost for a few years (depending on brand). Personally, I am pretty **** about paint but have chosen to grit my teeth and bear it. Only you can make that choice.
GM has made a very large commitment to build a new 400k sq ft paint shop in bowling green to improve the paint on these cars and bring it to world class standards that match the rest of the car. Unfortunately it won't be online for a couple of years.

Reason: Replaced dealer with detailer - a real Freudian slip. I would NOT trust a dealer to do this correction

Late 14 NRB cpe horizontal surfaces are ok, vertical surfaces are not good. My C6 and my wifes Cruze both have MUCH better paint.
Certain colors seem to have more problems than others. My first C7, black, had a paint job so bad I traded it after 300 miles. My blade silver is much better.
Mine is not good, my Machine Silver '09 was WAY better. Every panel has orange peel and the driver's door has a nice sag in the paint. Thank the good Lord I got an Arctic White car, it doesn't show the op very much, unless, of course, you are the owner!
I have seen a few with very nice paint jobs and seen some that are worse. I don't understand how there can be such a huge variation in the finish.
I know, temp, humidity and other things can make a rather large difference in the quality, but it is a mystery to me how GM could not have known that this was going to be evident, people have been moaning about op for ages.
Nice to know that they are doing something about it.
I am going to volunteer my car to them for a paint test...
It seems everyone (so far) with TR is happy with their paint quality, and I'll join the list. It is very glossy with only vague traces of orange peel anywhere. It isn't perfect, but I think very good for a mass-produced car in its price category. It won't match a Bentley or Rolls, I'm sure, but neither will the price.
That said, I will say that several months ago a nearby dealer had two black Z06s in the showroom and neither of those cars had a paint job that I would call acceptable. Orange peel was very apparent and I can't believe those cars passed QC. Thus, I'll agree with others here that paint quality is a crap shoot.
