I am.
I got my new car, 5 miles on it. Took it home and waxed it. The microfiber cloth stuck to the car. I am thinking this is not good. I take it back a few days later and the dealership (MC) sees the problem, there are bits of I don't know what sticking out of the paint. So they take it and claybar it. The bumps are pretty much gone, but not completely. I take it home and wax it again. I see major scratches on the hood, I take it back again. MC sees the major scratches and takes 3 days to ultrafine buff it and manages to take the clear coat and the paint off the car in a few spots. Now I have a black car with white spots. MC says we will repaint the bad spots, but will do nothing about the hood scratches. This is my first new Covette ever and I am so heartbroken about the paint on this car. MC will give me a 7 year paint warranty. What? The paint is already shot, what good is a paint warranty? Am I missing something? At this point, I don't even want the car anymore, MC has destroyed its original finish. MC wrecked the finish by buffing, I can't imagine how bad the paint job would be. What would you folks do?

Sorry to hear that. Its unbelievable that this is still going on in year 3.

Take it to a reputable shop and get their opinion. Ask about wet sanding the entire car, removing all the clear but leaving the basecoat on, then spraying only clear. Then wet sanding and buffing. This could be done for under 5K maybe 3? And you'll have a finish all Corvettes should have. It all depends how bad the damage is, so they need to look at it. They can spray more clear than the factory so wetsanding afterwards will get it like glass.

Forgot to mention GM or the dealer needs to pay for it. Negotiate with them after you get and estimate.

And BTW the first guy who replies his car is perfect is an idiot.

My car is perfect! Paint sucks, though. Pearl2015, you need to contact GM customer service and tell them what has happened to your paint. Either the dealer should repair under warranty or GM should have it taken care of. After reading your post I would not want the dealer to touch the car, and I would relay that to GM. I have crappy paint but it at least covers the entire car and does not look like leprosy.
There is no excuse to do crappy work and then not want to repair it properly. And only giving a 7 year warranty is WRONG. I had parts on my C6 repainted and got lifetime warranty on the paint.
You are used MC as the dealer who did the work, mind telling us who MC is? I can't imagine dealer screwing up the paint on a new car and not repairing it. I had a Toyota MR2 that the make ready guys buffed the hood and deck lids before delivering the car and took all the paint off the edges. The dealer took the car and repainted the deck lid, hood and corrected the doors and fenders so the whole car looked like glass.
Bug the fool out of GM and be a thorn in their side until the paint is corrected. Once that is done I will bet that you will love our car again.
Best of look to you.

Pearl2015, I would be heartbroken too. A dream car @ these prices should have immaculate paint, nothing less!

As others said, call GM directly. Not sure I would (at first) bring up MC F-up the paint as GM will likely tell you it's a dealer problem, not a GM quality problem therefore not a warranty issue. The fact is GM delivered a defective paint job and they need to fix it.

I would really like to know what % of cars have defective paint.

No wonder they are spending $300 million on a new corvette paint facility, too bad it's too little to late for many owners.

I am waiting to hear back from HQ regarding my op issues . also have many waives in the fenders and doors I am asking for $$ so I can have it sanded / buffed by someone other than a dealer .
Paint is awful . Looked at a new Jag today , paint was like glass.

CRT....Built April 2015.

LOVE my C7..... but horrible orange peel all over the car. Every panel has it.

It is what it is....I'll live. But it doesn't diminish my unhappiness with GM and the terrible paint quality.

Still most everyone who walks up and looks at the car never mentions the poor paint quality. They love the color and the car. Those who do notice the OP, are mostly prior or current Vette owners.

Hopefully BG's new paint facility will "finally" fix this issue.

Please forgive me but it is very strange for a microfiber cloth to stick to paint even on a bad paint job. What kind of wax did you use? Did you use anything else on the paint prior to waxing? Sealant, other paint protection products or paint cleaners?

I have a 2016 Shark grey metallic. No complaints here. The paint and clear is fine for a mass produced vehicle. Satisfied.

I'm not thrilled with my Shark Grey paint. It isn't real bad. I was shocked to see the same OP in the black paint of a new Mercedes at the gas pumps the other day. Its not just Corvettes with OP. Though Vettes shouldn't be on any paint defect list. American manufacturers can do better.

My paint is OK if you don't study it. When I take a hard look at it, it has orange peel galore. So what do I do--I don't study it and take solace that most C7s have it-- so it is what it is. If mine was the only one, it would be different.

I noticed a new high-end Mercedes sedan the other day in traffic and it had OP worse than my C7. As I mentioned before, I do have OP on my car, most notably on vertical surfaces, but overall the paint looks quite good and IMO the OP is overwhelmed by the glossiness of the clear coat. As you have observed, most people would not notice any paint issues.

Corgidog1 said it well, and like him I'm not going to over-analyze or obsess over it.

Black 2014 Z51 convertible. Paint looks good from afar, but far from good! Actually paint isn't too bad but it seems to mark and scratch very easily. My 2012 Harley F150 isn't nearly as easy to damage. Plan on getting mask on front and mirrors after getting professional touch up but it seems like the black paint is really soft or something. Not sure what the issues are but as I say, it marks and scratches extremely easily. Have owned a few black cars in the past so I'm not new to this colour and the extra care and looking after that it requires, but still....

I don't think anyone can say it's on par with even a Hyundi.

Worst feature on the Corvette is sub standard paint jobs. I have seen a lot of C7's by now and ALL have orange peel that is easy to see.
Some are horrible I saw a black one on the show room that was like a real orange in texture.
Granted most all cars have orange peel to some extent. You need to sand and polish it out to be perfect.
But the Corvette is bad.
This is not new goes back to the C6. Only my 2008 jet stream and My 2002 Z06 were better paint job's. GM's Corvette painting 10 years and over ago was better.

If I look from afar, my 2016 Laguna Blue is beautiful. If I look close, the paint sucks. This is by no means a show car and the sh*tty paint job does not take away any of the fun of the car.

While I have seen some serious problems in some areas of paint, the only real way of fixing it is a complete repaint. I have a hard time believing Chevy would cover that. I will not have a touch up job done, as most of those look worse that the crap we start with.

Maybe right before my warranty is up, I will fight to get the paint fixed. Right now, I can live with it and just love every minute driving it!

I had water spots on hood that would not wax out. One of our Corvette Club Members had their son down from Chicago area. He offered to do club cars for a reasonable fee. He did a two-stage opticoat process and buffed into clearcoat. TR paint is impeccable now and it is a shame that they don't come out of factory like this considering what I paid for a 2015.
