Good thing you did not own a C5, the Z28's actually put more power to the ground than the Corvettes did back then. A manual Z28 would beat an automatic pretty easily and manual to manual were drivers races.

Its the same horsepower as the Corvette with a 300-400 lb weight difference, worth about .3 to .4 in a quarter mile which is less than 2 car lengths.

Or the difference between a good driver and a bad one.

Wait till the new one comes out...I'm really wondering how GM is going to handle that with the weight reduction and performance difference between the two of them.

Don't believe the Camaro makes less power, they don't. They all make the same HP, advertised is one thing, but they are the same. That weight difference is coming down to probably less than 200lbs loaded and probably less than that on a stripper model.

The idea of an 8 speed auto is interesting to me...the wife was looking for a convertible and I really do not care for the Camaro styling, or its interior but the new model seems to be a huge leap, with a V8, 8 speed, and convertible might be a pretty fun car.

ZL1 puts out 580 hp, you're not quicker in a Z51.

Camaro SS if you screw up can keep up. Same engine, same power, just heavier vehicle.

ZL1 driver's race with significant advantage to ZL1. You're not doing anything wrong.

I believe the 16 SS has 420 HP, not 455 or 460. Don

They can ALL be FI'd. My plain jane 2007 LS2 Z51 Convertible had an Edelbrock SC on the top of the engine. It put down 550 RWHP. It would have given you pangs of inadequacy too.

You do not have a race car. You have a faster than most car but unless you want to play with the big boys, you're not gonna hang with EVERY car. Hellcat, Z06, ZL1, anything with forced induction, etc. So, go get a blow job!

Our cars are faster than 94.37% of the cars out there (honestly look at www.CorvetteC7FanBoy.com/Murica)

People like the way they look. They are aggressive but unfortunately there are "car guys" that come in all shapes and sizes be ready.

I wouldn't concern myself with bone stock a bone stock manual or auto Camaro. Their fastest bone stock Camaro SS runs 12.588. Most well driven C7's should be in the high 11's with some in the mid 11's.

Now a bone stock auto ZL1 should give us a run for the money, however there are no manual ZL1 in the 11's.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013

Bone stock manual SS = (1) Quickest is 12.588 @ 110.30

Bone stock ZL1 = (9) Quickest is 11.588 @ 118.26

Amazing how they're exactly one second apart.

I couldn't find anything from Camaro5 on the Z/28 quarter mile runs, but from what I've read they should run around a 12.3 or so.

The 2016 SS will have a 6.2L V-8 that develops 455 HP.

Who would be the quickest to 0-60? '15 Vette (A8) or '15 ZL1 auto or man?

A well driven Vette should beat the ZL1 manual, while the auto should be a drivers race, with a very slight edge to the ZL1.

Its identical for 16 to the c7.

From Chevys website

6.2L V8
The 455 hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque generated by this reputable small block LT1 V8 will bring to life the most powerful Camaro SS ever.

Camaro owners want to race Corvettes because many of the Camaro owners have an inferiority complex with Corvette Stingray owners.

If a Camaro is keeping up with the way you drive your Stingray, then yes, you are doing something wrong.

You didn't provide any additional details, so we have no way of helping you figure out why an inferior car such as a Camaro is keeping up with your Stingray.

My buddy has a zl1 and challenged me once. From a dead stop I destroyed him, then from a 30 roll it was closer, I still ended up pulling. I don't think the zl1 is faster. Maybe something was wrong with his car lol but it sure as hell didn't seem able to outrun me.

Not all Camaros want to race...and yes there are some faster...
I have both, sports car and muscle car!
Everyone asks which I like better... with the 2015 I have to say the Vette but they are so different!!

Many Camaro drivers like Mustang drivers would be driving Vettes if they could afford the extra 10/15K. So, there is that built in envy factor. But, both the Camaro and Mustang are fast Cars. Many will beat a Vette. In a straight line.

My 2013 V6 Camaro RS puts out 326 HP, and can keep up with a C5, on the straight the C5 will take me by a 1/4 car length, but the little Camaro runs along side for most of a 1/2 mile run....and that is with a six cylinder.
