The only reason I'd consider a Camaro over a C7 would be if I really needed a back seat. But the '16 will have to be hugely improved over the '15 for me to consider it over other 4 seat cars.
I'd really like a backseat so I could take my two dogs. It is a real problem because it prevents my wife and I from taking many trips with the Vette. The Camaro just is so blocky looking and I just love the Vette so much. I guess I should not let appearance dictate but it does. Guess I should try a Camaro and see. Nah.
Really?!? You're driving a C7 corvette and a couple Camaros or Mustangs that are slightly faster bother you? You're still the one behind the wheel of a new Corvette.
Camaro owners want to race Corvettes because many of the Camaro owners have an inferiority complex with Corvette Stingray owners.
If a Camaro is keeping up with the way you drive your Stingray, then yes, you are doing something wrong.
You didn't provide any additional details, so we have no way of helping you figure out why an inferior car such as a Camaro is keeping up with your Stingray.
My Camaro SS is my daily rider - my C7 - soon to be Z06 is my fun ride. My C7 is faster than my SS.
I never street race, got that out of my system years ago. But I LOVE goading other drivers into a race and NOT racing them. My favorite is coming back from Road Atlanta with my 10 year old grandson in the passenger seat of my C4. C4 has Headman long tube racing headers, true dual exhaust, no cats, and Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. Sounds awesome. I pulled onto the interstate as a late model Mustang was coming along side. I accelerated until I had my mufflers near his passenger door. I told my grandson "watch this". I blipped the throttle to let the pipes talk but kept my steady speed. Man, that Rustang took off like a bat outa hell. We watched him disappear down the road, laughing our butts off. I told my grandson "He raced me because he already thinks my car is better and he wanted to try and prove different. I have nothing to prove". People who street race are always wanting to prove something about themselves or their cars. Just my own opinion.
Should have said almost everyone.
They have stepped it up, but to bring back on topic, I just think C7 owners in general have little to no "concern" what is going on with 2016 Camaro or street racing current generation Camaro owners.
Here's another C7 owner considering the Camaro. Not everyone is a "Corvette" guy, some of us are just car guys and like them all. The C7 is my first Corvette because it's the first one that I actually like the looks of since the C2.
Yoo hoo. Hello. Where are you? Off driving your Camaro? We know you're reading this thread.
I can't be reading this thread because I am at work. But if I were I would have to say that my Z06 just arrived at my dealer this morning. And the C7 vert in the picture will be leaving.

My last post was directed at the Original Poster (OP), not you. Congrats on the Z06 though.
My fiance just traded in his ZL1 for a 1LE SS. The S/C motor did not do well in the Arizona heat, plus the 12 to 13 MPG LSA motor was killing him, but man did that car pull hard. We never got a side by side race against my C7 before he traded it in (both cars manual, I have slightly more driving experience), but no doubt in my mind that if he had a good launch he would take me. Now, the 1LE on the other hand - still a great car, pulls super hard, but I think a slight advantage would go to my Vette. That being said, it's super easy to mod the LSX cars so a few bolt ons and it could definitely take out a Vette. And to go a step further, the '16 SS cars will have the LT1 motor so due to the weight difference, it is likely going to become a "driver's race."
I love Camaros, I had an LS1 Z28 in college. I wouldn't feel inferior if a Camaro were to beat me in a race, I would probably give them a thumbs up! I bought a Corvette because it is fast enough for me and it is easily one of the best looking cars on the road today. There will always be someone that is faster than you!
Keep in mind that it's just as easy to mod a Corvette so they run in the 10's as well. There's quite a few I know that still run the Corvette Challenge.
Why do camaros always want to race and why can some of them actually keep up? I have the 2014 stingray convertable with the Z51 performance package WTF. this is my first Vette am I doing something wrong?

With the weight difference, I don't see him winning unless you are a bad driver.

Indeed, but I still dislike the looks of the 5th gen Camaro. I do prefer the new nose over the 2014, but the Prelude tails are no bueno.
