2015 built 12/17/2014 with 3400 miles & no issues. Shifts smooth, fingers crossed it stays this way. Anybody sure at what point in the 2015 builds that the updated torque converter was put in.
It has been reported on the forum Oct. 15. It seems the mileage is around 6K miles and up when most notice symptoms of torque converter failure. I noticed it at 9K miles. Mine was also an early build Oct 14 and shifted smooth. I would refresh my knowledge of the symptoms of torque converter failure. Hope you have a good one.

11/15 build, 1124 miles. No problems.
Edit: 1/6/18
At 7500 miles the shudder started, had triple flush done at dealer.
11,000 shudder returned, dealer replaced TC.
Currently at 12,500, and using manual mode, most of the time.
Only time will tell.

Reason: Old thread brought back from the dead
I'm willing to bet the majority of owners of the A8 don't know their transmission isn't
working right.I'm not talking about the minority of you that are on this forum.
Let me explain.I have been in many auto tranny's that I could tell something wasn't right.
The owners of these cars thought the car was fine.
My point some people are more aware of things than others.
Yea, of the ppl who have replied. You're going to get a lot more ppl posting here if they had an issue then if they didn't so doing the math for this thread is useless. 1% of A8 owners having transmission issues would be a lot closer to reality then your 30-35% figure.

In addition, many people who haven't experience problems yet have very few miles on their cars.
At 1100 miles, running in gear 7 or 8, I went full throttle, heard a loud bang and the transmission was then stuck in one of those two gears. Tried the manual mode and it would not shift from the drive mode, the letter D on the dash was flashing at a one second rate. Stopped and the transmission shifted into first gear and would not shift out of first. Then stopped and shut it off, started it up about 20 minutes later and it worked fine. The car is at the dealer now being diagnosed.

I think you are exactly correct. I have met two guys here in Florida at the golf club, both of whom have new C7 A8's. We looked at each others cars, and I asked them if they had a " harsh shift" first drive of the day. You could see the light bulb go off and they thought that for this sports car that is normal until things "warm up". They both said that after things warm up it runs great. When I mentioned they could have this condition repaired they were quite surprised and thought they would have that done at next oil change. Also I asked them if they were ever on any C7 forums and the answer was" no" but they thought now that they would.

It confirms to what I was saying before. Many people are oblivious to
Problems until someone informs them.
I've never been A fan of the automatic. It goes way back to A 67 chevele Malibu 2 speed.Since then I have driven 4 speed auto's.Just sometimes they don't feel like they shift right.

Oh Boy, the dreaded 2 speed Power Glide transmission. I remember it well although it's not one of my better automotive memories . Off a stoplight if you "rugged it" you would age somewhat before reaching 60 mph.....not gonna get any rubber with that old slushbox.......

and just what is the repair for first hard shift ..1st-2nd. gear ?
If you were not using the paddles it went into performance shift mode. The car thought you wanted to race, so it kept you in peak rpm. Smart car.
This happened to me yesterday, i was driving in Sport Mode with the gear selector in 'D", gave it some gas and it went into performance shift mode. However, i looked at the gear selector and it had moved to "M" for manual. I had never seen it do that before...is that normal for performance shift mode?
