Had mine done today, takes about an hour, give or take, to download software and upload it to the car. Can't wait to really fool around with it to see what it's like compared to Car Play. I didn't need or have a certificate, perks of being employed at the dealership I suppose.

Next step is to get my performance timer to work.
After dealing with my local dealer getting my Performance timer working Thanks GM For the 250 Voucher, I asked my dealer to get this done, they said I have to wait for GM to send something through the mail. Come on GM get that in the mail lol. Cant wait to hear your feedback.

I got an email from Chevrolet last night that said the update was available for my car (included my VIN) and to bring the email to my dealer to schedule the update
Got it done in the C7, took MacMulkin service about 90 minutes. Works as advertised. Some good reading for you guys here and here. Now I wish Waze would get updated to work with it. It's been supposed "on the way" for a couple months now.
Also, here is all the apps that currently work with Android Auto.
Yeah, I just got mine yesterday as well. Leaving for Spring Mountain Sunday, so I am going to call and schedule tomorrow for the following week to get it updated, unless they can squeeze me in tomorrow.
Hoping to get that email soon. I am going to the dealer on Monday for an oil change (Dealer is 120 miles away) and would love to knock the Android update out at the same time....
Do you guys that received the emails have low VINs? Just wondering if it is going in order or is it random?

Are you planning on having it done? I'm thinking of knocking out the oil change, the Android update and in another thread I'm seeing where they are re-installing the performance timer on the 16s, so maybe inquire about that (although that's what got me in trouble on my Z06 ).

If your update goes well on Monday, I may go next Thursday and get mine done. I don't want to be the guinea pig for the update just in case.
Just played around with the Android Auto and I prefer it to Car Play. Mainly because I like the Google maps better than Apple maps. If you log into your google account it will display directions to recently looked up restaurants etc. I found this out because I looked up a menu at a local pizza shop and when I got into my car it suggested it as a destination.
I will also use the MLB app often as I am a huge baseball fan, Go Royals! Music is easy with Google Play Music and the hands free controls are super simple.
Took a lot longer than I thought but the dealership seemed unusually busy today (I overheard that they had lots of people in due to spring break??). Total of 4.5 hours for the oil change, Android Auto update and the software for the performance timer. As I was leaving I was worried that the Android update had not been done because the AA Icon does not appear until your phone is hooked up AND (at least with my phone, the Turbo) you turn off PTP (file transferring) and turn on MTP (for media). I was messing with it for about twenty minutes because I didn't want to leave if it wasn't done, but finally once I turned the right connection for USB use the AA icon showed up in place of the "projection" icon. I do love the maps, looking forward to seeing if they release any new apps to use in the future!
