In my C7 on a long deserted wide road my passenger said I hit 145. I can't verify that as my eyes were closed! Just kidding----about the eyes closed part.
140 in a new c4, in a speed contest with a new mustang. acceleration was identical to 125 where he was at max rpm, i still had overdrive to go. on the way back to nevada with that car i got 2 speeding tickets in the same day, the only ones i ever got while driving any of the corvettes i have owned. i had an escort detector, but both cops had instant on and clocked me at 85 in utah and a 65 in nevada.
i did get another one in a friend's ferrari. the speed limit was 55 in those days.
I was trying to get my 500 mile break in on my engine in my Z06 and was out on I65 headed south from Nashville to Huntsville we took back roads all the way up to nashville and decided to take the interstate on the way back. I already had 480 of the 500 so it wasn't a big deal.
I was just crusing doing @ 80 and was coming up on a big curve going down a small hill.
I slowed down to 75 as I thought for sure there would be a state trooper sitting at the bottom.
As I slowed down a white buick came flying around me. He must have been doing every bit of 110 and as soon as he got around me, we came to the bottom of the hill. Guess who was sitting there? Sure as **** a State came flying out of the turn off and got the white buick.
Wounder what he was thinking when he seen a yellow Z06 and a white buick and the buick was the one flying through the curve. LOL
I told my wife I knew that was about to happen.
I laughed most of the way back after that.

Just outside Frankfurt for about 20-30 minutes. The 3 series would only go faster if we started going down hill. It was pretty fun but my leg shook the whole time trying to make sure I had the pedal to the floor.
I hope the car insurance companies don't crawl these car forum web sites. But my dad had a 57 ford fairlane with that 312 Thunderbird motor. It was a 2 speed automatic. Got 10 mpg in town and 10 on the highway. All barrels of the carb opened up when you hit 55 mph regardless if you had it wot or not. This thing could pass other cars like a bat out of hell! It topped out at 110 mph.
140 in a 1984 Camaro, downhill, based on the tach since the speedo only went to 85.
Probably won't be doing it again. In Oregon the fine for over 100 mph starts at $1150 and license suspension for at least 30 days. I think some states are worse.
This feels a little like the video posting on Facebook where some dude posted himself doing around 300 kph and then was promptly arrested. Big brother watching? I swear it was only 55 officer....
A bit over 100MPH so far on a couple of "getting on it getting onto the freeway" blasts.
In my younger years, on a lonely stretch of I95 between Groton and Providence about 167-170MPH on a 2000 Ninja ZX-9R (piped, ported, and jetted). A few times. Not my smartest moments.
I'm curious. Is there any law against WOT on freeway entrances to get up to freeway posted speed real fast? I do that once in a while. I'll hit the entrance rolling at about 5 mph and then just gun the sucker! Usually going from 5 to 60 in about 4 seconds. I hope that is not considered reckless driving. I just can't resist.
I know I can't be the only one asked how fast you have had it up to ?
Most recently by a county sheriff
and when I looked at my feet he said its ok I am a hot Roder too!
So my c7 bros how fast have you had your stingray up to?
Me to 120 on nice smooth back road and 150 some place else....
161 in a Paxton supercharged and other modifications 1992 C4 on a long straight back road in rural Minnesota. Pretty stable but still scary. If the C4 was OK at that, a C7 should be solid as a rock at that speed.
Um.....I don't think so.
But I will admit to having my license suspended for a month back in 1980 when I had a Plymouth Superbird. Tallied up 12 points within 12 months. Had to go to driving school with a bunch of drunks. Good times way back when you were invulnerable.
1998 Camaro Z28 hit 145.
2006 coupe hit 162 before I backed off. Was surprised how fast you cover ground at that speed...
2010 grand sport never broke 130. Just never felt the need, but man did I love the drive feel and control of that car.
2014 Stingray has been somewhere between 140 and 150.
Now that I know what it can do, I just don't feel the need. I do corner hard an awful lot...
Heck, just zippin' around Spring Mountain's small track I was hitting ~115.
