Don't have my C7 yet (delivered within two weeks) but I've had my 2001 Camaro SS up to 160.
This was back when the new tollway (190) in north Dallas was built and hardly anyone used it. There was a nice long straight section that you can really get moving on.
Oh other cars ... Ok had my 66 GT mustang convertible and my 67 impala SS convertible then there was a 81 mustang 5.0 HO convertible all three I only went up to 110 mph showing
Of these only the impala had a built high horse power motor and was quite capable of much more and no older convertible roof is to be trusted over 100
in each that was the limiting factor and the speedos were not calibrated so it is questionable as to real speed ...
My 76 stingray L88 coupe Showed 120 jest before the speedo broke
None of them were it was the only car that felt stable over 110
But my z51 feels like it's on rails it is so stable !
This car is built to be to be on the autobon
Wellp, I've had an XK-E to 135 and my 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 up to 125. If you can believe the speedos. Stupid thing to do. On River Road? Jesus!!!
I would say your speedo was optimistic by around 15 MPH. In the early 60's I had a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible with the 245 HP 312 and the 3 speed manual transmission, and I'm sure it couldn't hit 125.
Top speed of a 1957 Corvette with 283 HP was 132 MPH at 6500 RPM. The Corvette didn't have to knock nearly as big a hole in the wind as a 1957 Ford and the huge Ford wasn't near as aerodynamic as the Corvette.

Same as mine: 312 4bbl, not the usual 292 2bbl. One thing I've learned on this forum is that no matter what you say, someone will come along and say it didn't, say it can't, or say it won't, without any real evidence one way or another. Make all the assumption you want, but you weren't there. That's what the speedo said. If that wasn't TRUE, then meh? That otherwise POS has been a rusting compressed brick for many decades now. I managed to get a number of tickets with it and even got thrown in jail once. It was before I wised up. I look back on that time with horror and amazement. It was a different time. I have had zero tickets in the last 30 years and wouldn't think of attempting to exceed the speed limit like I did back then, which was
