Ouch so sorry to see that. Insurance is a bitch to work with. I've been in my fair share of ******** with my old car. My buddy's evo was in a hit and *attempted* run, 23K-ish damages to the car that's technically worth less than 35K and they still had it fixed.
I may have mentioned this in another thread, but I'll repeat what I said here merely as a suggestion:
1. Glad you and your passenger are OK, that's the most important thing.
2. Once you get the estimate, you may want to think about asking the repair facility if they would be willing to buy your car "as is". Since they can undoubtedly repair the car for less than they would charge you, you may be surprised at the number you come up with by adding the insurance check in the amount of the estimate to the amount they may be willing to give for the car, as is. I did this years ago when I was t-boned in an intersection, and I wound up better than if I had had the car repaired and then tried to sell it. Finances may not permit this approach, but at least you might want to consider it.
Tons of bs information in this thread. BS information in the article that the forum emailed out as well.
OP- if you want to pm me feel free. I'm an active Texas licensed insurance adjuster for one of the largest insurance companies in the country.

It would be great if you would set everybody straight on bs vs non-bs situations like this by posting your thoughts here. Presumably it's not just of interest to the OP.
I disagree....looks all cosmetic to me....once if fixed, if done right....you will have no problem at all....make sure the paint is a real real close match ....or bitch about it. Next advice, go to the best in your area....do some homework. it will be good as new in no time!!!
good luck
Ok,I'll do a write up later today when it cools off a bit. sounds like a good time to smoke a cigar and have a drink.
Just a few things to keep in mind:
-Your adjuster went through months of training to be able to do his/ her job. trust them a bit
-Your corvette really isn't that different from most cars. Hell a 2000 ford ranger has a SMC (fiberglass) bedside.
-Your insurance company owes to bring your vehicle back to its PRE-LOSS CONDITION. So yes, your car will be the same again.
-Carmax is a scam for dealers to protect dealers..... unfortunately you took your vehicle to a dealer shop, so it will for sure be reported....
I'll go into more depth later on today on all of this
Most importantly be nice to your adjuster. He is the one who decides what parts get put on your vehicle, how it is repaired, and he holds the check book. Trust me, if you make his life easy he will make your life easy.
Me too. Pissed off. Some 80 year old turned in front of me. Mine was approx 7k worth of damage. Still not fixed. That was about 2 weeks ago. My back neck and shoulders all hurt. Airbag deployed. Such a bummer

Glad no one was hurt, that's 1st and foremost. I know the feelings of a pride and joy getting injured. A car like this we all work our a$$es of for. That being said I hope the "re-bar" in the rear isn't bent, its not a bolt on item on the Z06. As far as the frame goes, it can be checked with a laser alignment system for square ness. Good luck !
Took my beauty i for a free oil change at a new dealership. Guess what it fell off their lift, and it was totaled out by insurance the dealer had. Cost me $32000 to get a new car,I did not need or want. TRied to fight it Lawyer said i can not . That is why dealer has insurance. Man was I screwed.
How in the heck does a car fall off a lift? Why would a lawyer not fight it? Sounds like negligence. Was the cost difference between the new car and insurance settlement the 32k?

Wow! 30K fix for that? Sounds outrageous but I guess that's the way it is these days. Geico can sort out blame and U can challenge the outcome for diminished value. 3k miles on one month old car demands diminished value. Then sell and get a fresh one.
Will never ever go GEICO again. They bumped my rates sky high on my 67 Shelby GT500 back in the day w/o any cause other than Shelby GT 500 when I acquired it. Never forgave them. Never ever.
could not fight it. That is why they have insurance. Believe me I fought very hard yes that was the diff of cars value and a new 2006,when it happened. Now I ordered 2017 gs to replace the 2006, which I will keep.

After seeing the damage of the car that pulled in front of you I am shocked how little damage your car has, not to diminish your pain. I expected to see your entire front end crumbled, caved in.
We hired someone to do the Diminished Value claim. He charges $300 and says he will get at least that back. He reviews the repairs and comes up with what he thinks the DV should be and if you have to go to court, he will be an expert witness.
Here you have to wait until you get the car back before starting the DV claim. He was here today reviewing the repairs and seems to think we should get a "substantial amount". I think it is going to be money well sent hiring him.
Just got his estimate of Diminished Value of $7700. Now the fun starts with the insurance company. Have notified them and will see what their counter offer will be.
