Were you not happy w/ paint quality?

i think people who really get annoyed with the paint are just being to particular. I never really cared about such things. If it looks good few feet away its perfect in my eyes.

My black granite 2012 Equinox that is parked next to my torch red 2014 C7 has a noticeably deeper clear coat finish. I just use Turtle Wax wash and shine on the Equinox. I've tried Optimum Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer on the Corvette that seems to have helped a little but the gloss is still less than on the SUV. I wonder if Chevrolet is just not applying as much clear coat as they used to or if the difference is just between manufacturing plants.

The dealership where I bought my C7 just got a new Long Beach Red convertible in last week. The paint job on it is an absolute embarrassment. I realize all Corvettes have some degree of orange peel(my Torch Red was pretty bad until I had it color sanded), but this car looks like it was painted with a roller. I just wonder what kind of difference in paint quality we will see, if any, when the new paint facility becomes operational next spring.

You are attempting to be sarcastic and criticize, but compared to any super car that has a hand-sanded finish, Corvette is on a beer budget, yes. Fact is you can get a Vette for $60K, which is within the price range of hundreds of cars in today's market. And that is not champagne by any stretch if the imagination.

i dont care what bang for the buck or what a loyalist says, even a $50-60k car better have a damn good paint job on it. Not hand rubbed flawless but pretty decent!
I agree with the "good from a few feet" minimum!
This is definitely a picky hard to please crowd;sure there are the ones with a holding a light inches above the car, their face right up in it like a pirate or something but to see obvious peel from a few feet away is a joke
Conclude that no matter what GM did with these cars they would still sell all of em. I mean how many love their C7 but still hate the Camaro lights? GM owns you lol

Everyone has their level of "acceptability" in regards to orange peel. What everyone should realize is that, with 3 exceptions that I've seen, EVERY modern car has orange peel from the factory. And every car maker suffers from inconsistency....I've seen BMW's that looked great and on the same lot, BMW's that were literally embarrassing.
The exceptions:
Viper (GenV)
Aston Martin
Bentley
The assumption that the low volume, big buck cars are superior is simply not true. We have a forum member, Todd Cooperider, who is one of the most highly thought of paint correction people in the nation...he has a video on his site of the correction he did to....a brand new LaFerrari ($1 MILLION car).
