holy gees this is funny.
You don't want to suffer from A8 failures, buy an MN7 and live with the 0.02 difference in straight line performance but have a hell of a lot more fun driving.

Since this thread was bumped back to the top today, I wanted to reply to your comment about the 2017 poll data...it's inaccurate. The usernames in bold below are the same forum member. He has boasted about having over 40 usernames and has been banned an equal number of times, I presume. As you can see, his votes account for 5 of the 8 in the 2017 TC category and all 3 in the 2017 Transmission category.
He also voted more than once under some of the names below in the 2015 failure categories. (He's actually back under a new username but hasn't yet voted in this poll as such.)

Sadly, my left knee disagrees. I learned to drive using a manual "3 on the tree." Would I like to be able to have a dd M7? Yup. A lot less chance of ever having the car boosted. If I thought for one minute my left knee wouldn't blow out again, I'd do it. I'm not however going to chance it.
2100 on my 16 z51 and no issues from it as of yet. Was tempted to get the manual but have had several manuals in the past so went with the a8. I have back issues occasionally that make the manual a real pain so to speak also.
So my car finally developed the dreaded shudder so it's in the shop now. It's a 2016 with 8500 miles and the dealer said they will be replacing the TC. Here's the kicker...they have 4 other corvettes in front of mine getting new TC's.
Select if you have had an A8 failure or not. The poll is broken down by actual transmission failure or just torque converter failure. It is broken down by year model for both failures and non failures. This is for STOCK tune cars that have never been tuned.
Just the fact that there is such a poll , says it all ..

over 50 thousand miles on my A8 , no failure , smooth as silk
I've had the triple douche at 26k miles on my '15. I let it run in V4 a lot. Anyway, I'd call it a TC failure for this poll. Even though the TC functions fine to get you down the road you still had it in the shop for a TC issue.
I have a 03/16 build Stingray with no issues, but with only 2800 miles on it. It will be interesting to hear from those at 10K miles and more.
I have a 2015 that I bought new. After about 15000 miles the cylinder deactivation stated acting up. Living in Hilo Hawaii our only Chevy dealer is not a Corvette authorized. They told me to wait until it completely failed. Then I would have to send the car to Honolulu by ship. Not very happy with that idea, I bought a Diablo tuner and cancelled the the deactivation system. The car now has 22,000 miles and now runs better the ever.
