Range AFM throwing multiple codes and CEL

code reader was reading 13 codes, some were multiples of the above.
It didnt go into limp mode, car drive as it always does. Is this normal?

Well, it's sure not normal! I had about 3 limp-mode experiences before the latest iteration, and then none since. All 3 were at startup, and did throw a few codes that i cleared with my reader. I never had codes without limp-mode.
The company was very fast replacing my unit.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Did you buy your unit directly from Range or from a 3rd party? I have heard some of the units being sold by 3rd parties have old software/firmware. I was thinking about buying one as well but not until I am convinced it will work without having any negative effects on the normal operation of the car. Not willing to take a chance voiding my OEM and extended warranties. Hopefully you can exchange your unit for a new one that will work properly. Please keep us posted.

They have a 30 day refund, I am probably going to ask for one.

Can't say that I blame you. Thanks for posting this as I am definitely going to delay or maybe just forget about ordering one. I can live with my car the way it is for now. New TC and programming has fixed my tranny issues so I can tolerate the V4 mode as long as it is almost imperceptible. Thanks again for posting your experience. Hope you get your refund very quickly and without any fanfare or drama.

Have the latest from Range.........NO ISSUES whatsoever!
A8 Z06.
A8 Z06.

Sounds like an issue with the individual Range unit. I have the slighter older software and twice it has set DTCs at startup with the most noticeable result that the A8 goes into limp/protect mode due to the communications error at startup. A restart clears this mode and this reminds me that I need to send mine in for an update now that blue flash is sleeping for the winter. I use manual mode often but it is nice to be able to leave the A8 in full auto at times without the annoying AFM behavior; the Z06 doesn't go into V4 often but it does under some conditions and I don't care for it.
I use an OBD II extension cord with power switch to easily turn the Range unit off when parked to avoid additional battery drain.

I emailed Range several days ago to confirm if their unit will work on my 2016. They never answered so I am not doing business with them for now. Any company that doesn't respond to emails within a couple days will not earn my business.

I'm on my third unit in less than a 2 months. I'm testing an 8.1 Beta verion. So far so good. Good company with exceptional customer service. Buy one. If you're having problems they will exchange - they are very well aware of the problem with C7s... but problem seems to be solved with version 8.1.

If 8.1 fixes it, why are they shipping 7.8 ?

Plus they charge for shipping both ways to get it updated for "free".
Don't get me wrong, I have one too on my '15 without issue, but GM changed something during '16 or '17 and their software cannot deal with it.
