Yep, former silver/polished aluminum wheel guy here, now gone to the dark side of late. I'm very partial to the Eagles, Beatles, Zeppelin, Rollings Stones and that genre. Even older folks can "evolve." I was never fond of chrome wheels in my 20's, which was the 70's.
The stereotypes projected in this thread are beyond absurd.

Yep, they are, and proving a point of the "get off my lawn crowd". What I love is the hyperbolic attempt to go find performance car build sheets and drag them back here to show painted wheels and say" look these are kind of shiny that means chrome isn't tacky!". Oh how I can't wait till the day chrome is off that corvette build sheet and it's coming ....better prepare round taillight, no pop-up headlight, end of the "worlders " !! Oh my God !! No !! Don't you take my chrome away !! And don't you go near my Hawaiian shirt and Sha Na Na records !!!
BTW, ibet chrome will gone from corvette build choices in the next 2 to 3 years.....amen !!
My bet is that you are wrong. But if not, then that will make my current Blade Silver Chrome wheeled C7 my last. And WRT BMW's, Porsche, etc, who cares? Wouldn't own one, no matter what kind of wheels they offered.

I can get you a discount on a case of BLACK spray paint at HOME DEPOT
You can run with all those $2500 stripper Plymouth Roadrunners' from the 70's
I don't want to jack someone else's thread, but what is it with chrome wheels?
I mean really, 1960 called and it want's its wheels back. Nothing says geezer owns it, more than having chrome wheels.
Just had to rant.
Hey Sperry.. im with you on this one. my Torch Red Z51 has got Chrome Rims & Had Chrome emblems.. i changed them to carbon flash and soon will sand blast and paint the rims to Black. i got bored of the Chrome.
Only 48... maybe that Qualifies me as a Geezer???
But to me Black Wheels simply look like your hub cap fell off or you put on 4 space saver donut spares
Nothing 60s about this
Or this... well maybe the 2nd one... it is a 64 after all...
[QUOTE=pdiddy972;1594693366]Nothing says "wanna be ricer" than black wheels, so opinions differ.
Black wheels have no detail from more than 10 feet away - just looks like a black hole.
Chrome FTW!

This picture is why chrome or polished, or even black with some polished or machined highlights.
Black is so over done. Just another one in the heard that look alike.
Black, it's the new BLAND!
This car is gorgeous and the wheels bring out the lines. With this color especially.
There are some vehicles that black really accents, but very few.

256 posts later, the gloss black crowd still loves gloss black and the chrome crowd still loves chrome. Got to love threads about absolutely nothing except "my decision is better than your stupid decision". Very entertaining though.

Not true, because those of us who love all of those wheel choices depending on car color are still hanging in.
