Chrome WILL always still look classy, sharp and or racy with the right design and the right car. When you see Toyota Corolla's with factory black wheels. Well you can think what I'm thinking. The market is SATURATED now with black wheels on everything now from sub compacts to pickups to scooters! This thread should be locked.

Black wheels are nothing new. My father had a 1909 model T Ford and it had black wheels. Some Model A's from the 1930's also had black wheels. As they say, history repeats itself, or something like that.

Classy? I think of chrome as more like cubic zirconium, and polished aluminum as more diamond like.
Ok, fine. If you can't beat them, join them I guess.
Was leaving a client meeting last summer, I had to pull into an adjacent lot and take it all in when I noticed this fine example. At first I thought "too much?", but I must admit, the chrome wheels really classed it up.
Here you go chrome fans, I'll just leave this here for you to enjoy.

I think what I said was over your head bud. Wheel choice depends on so many other factors in general... body design, vehicle color, make and model, and on and on. I have had polished, black, chrome, silver over the last 25 years. No one can make an ignorant blanket statement that chrome wheels are for the seniors. I love mine in my mid 40's. Loved chrome in my 20's too. Has to be on the right car and the right rim as with all wheel designs. I am thinking of going next year to repro C6 ZR1 chrome wheels as my Z06 is looking that way with the other pieces on it. I have 2 buddies with FR repros and nothing wrong with them in 6 years. Black and chrome. ZR1s in black and spyders in chrome repros. With new rubber.
What was the first wheel choice GM made on the '09 C6 ZR1 when they unveiled it? Chrome.
The brake dust wont ruin the chrome so much as black powder coat if you keep up the **** fussy cleaning so much. They all have a place on Corvettes. Nearly every thread and or post lately is like an *******. Everyone has one! (OPINION is the common cliche) but soo fu**ing true. Every day every one gives THEIR PERSONAL OPINION. DOES NOT MEAN IT IS A FACT. THIS FORUM IS BASED TOO MUCH ON OPINIONS THAT ARE FACTUALLY WRONG. I mean this when it comes to highly technical stuff that a guy needs facts and know hows... most of the techie guys moved on... hmmmm wonder why??? all the super smart kidz came on here and now it's a kindergarten of mostly ignorant bullshit. Well maybe not so much in the C7 section. I'm just in an old school C6 Z. :

SAVE THE WAVE EVEN FOR US OLD CHROMIE LOVERS!!
I know I got off topic.
RA RA RA GET OFF MY LAWN
Rant all you like....all the curmudgeon doo woppers that loooooove Corvette so much that are utterly clueless to see beyond their driveway...
You have succeeded in turning off mountains of new, younger buyers with a parade of tacky chrome. So feel good about yourself, you have perpetuated the out of touch, crank-a $$ stereotype. Friends of mine who are sports car owners and LIKE Corvette cringe at the sight of chrome rims....there's a reason for it. I can only look forward to being free from this plague.

I didn't, and yes that would be an ignorant statement. Agreed, it's purely personal choice.
Lighten up, a number of us are just joking around here because this discussion has become incredibly ludicrous.

Ra Ra Ra ....wheres my Hawaiin shirt
Other than it not being the current fad exactly what do you find wrong with shiny wheels? What's so objectively superior about black wheels that have almost no detail from a distance?
Chrome, it's chrome, chrome, chrome, that's drawing the ire from some here. Shiny is different.
Explain the difference, and specifically the visible differences and why they matter in this conversation. To me they're essentially the same thing. I wouldn't even know how to tell the difference I don't think.

Thaaaaaaaaaaank yoooooou
It's amazing how out of touch it becomes here with what is "over" .....ooooover
Future crossover younger higher-end customers do not want chrome, it is seen as tacky, over the top, out of date. Kid yourself all you like...thats the deal.
Some of these chrome gems are so overboard they start to look plastic.
The Eisenhower administration is over ....for the love of God ....move on

If it was over, this thread wouldn't exist... Kid yourself all you like, it will forever be an option. You and your friends are the ones that need to get ooooover it.... For the sake of your mental health, I sincerely hope black remains an option😂
