Default Only 460HP!

Today with all the ultra high HP ratings of many engines such as 840 on the Demon, 707 HellCat, 650 Z06 & ZL1 and rumors of 800 on the ZR1....Do you feel that our 460 HP on the Stingrays and Grand Sports are now considered lowly?
Just Saturday I stopped by my local Chevy dealer who had a shipment of '18's delivered on Friday. Me being a kid in a candy store eyed this Artic White '18 Z06 1LZ and inquired about trading my 7 week old GS on it. Actually made a deal and thought it over yesterday long and hard and realized that it was just too much for me to spend needlessly! The Grand Sport is the same car without the Supercharger and even though it has 190 HP less....I will never use all of that power on the street! So why did I want the Z06 at all? I know why....just to have it!!

I'm also suspicious why you would have bought a GS 7 weeks ago knowing full well what the HP rating was... You sound like a troll to me...
What was trolling about about his comments? Chill out. People have their opinions and this is a public forum where they should voice them.

I just picked up a hellcat... While I'll seldomly use all that power it's nice to know it's there should I decide to. I've always felt the c7 was a bit under powered and would have been a more enjoyable car at 500 hp

Replace you with me. GS with Stingray, and Z06 with GS. It's all perspective...

Just about any car sold has more hp than is needed and they can all exceed the legal speed limits.
That being said for those who are truly car guys it is always nice to being sitting on top of the hp heap and experience that burst of power when conditions allow.
I think 460 hp is enough, but it does not mean I do not want more. My next purchase will meet my want/need for more hp.

For me the HP is nice. I can do plenty stupid with just 460 HP. So it's all I'll ever need. Now, if i had the GS handling, I could refine my 'stupid' quite a bit.

Pretty much...Get a Z07 on both and it's very close to the same with the LT4 instead of the LT1 or vice versa.

What the base C7 "lacks" in raw HP is more than made up for in cornering and braking capability.

Only 460 hp, just barely enough to get you to highway speeds in 4 seconds. In 7-8 seconds you can get a real nice ticket.
Yeah, it's neat to say that your car has 800 hp, but where the heck are you going to use it? I enjoy my "only 46 hp" everyday and often get to put a bit of that hp loose out on country roads when there is nothing around. It is enough to get you killed if you aren't paying attention. It is a mine is bigger than yours thing. For some it is enough for others they need more. Kind of what makes us all unique. But one thing is sure...we all love Corvettes.

JMO......for me, 300-500 HP would be called "Medium" power.

460 is at the top end of the Medium range.

Enough for most street/DD applications.

What's a new Ford Mustang GT have? Somewhere around 440, I think. I rarely get to use all the power the Stingray has, but some of that is because I'm a bit underwhelmed, after coming from the C6Z.

No, I do not.
Although I have a Z06, the extra hp doesn't ordinarily come into play when just cruising around.

IMO, the differences in times between the 3 models isn't as great as some want to believe.
For example, a lot of guys somehow forget about WEIGHT: the Stingray weighs 3,300 lbs. vs. GS's 3,428 vs. the Z06's 3,524.
The weight savings of the NA models does have a positive impact on the stopwatch.

Yeah and the Mustang GT easily weighs 400-500 more pounds or so.

460hp is plenty for me on a car that weighs around 3300lbs. I like the idea of the Z06 but the Z51 I have is already overkill for street driving.

Yeah, but that's what makes them different... and the hood, tail lights, wheels, badging, etc.

You can say just about anything is "pretty much" the same. A Mustang GT is pretty much the same as a GT500... Cadillac ATS or CTS is pretty much the same as a ATS-V or CTS-V, etc.

Not bashing the Stingray or GS, both are great cars, but until they're generating OEM 650/650... w/the similar performance specs like 0-60, then they are not pretty much the same.

Same will apply to the ZR1... IMO of course
