You sound like a piece of work and an idiot! You can't figure out where I am coming from in this thread? The point being with all the high HP numbers out there....460 seems low in comparison, with the HP numbers game going on today. I never said, our cars were slow. And... What does this subject have to do with my driving ability? FYI..I bought a GS because it was the nicest Corvette that I could comfortably afford. If I could have comfortably afforded a Z06....I would have had one! If any one is a troll... it is you! BTW....those Z51 stickers on your hood look stupid!

Default when the numbers become too important and narrow your view

imagine if we measured those people/things we enjoy the most by numbers alone; a two dimensional view without any depth.....I remember being psyched when my new 1986 Honda CRX Si had 92 hp! Then my '92 Miata had 116! And then my first Vette, my 2002 C5 with over 350 hp!

The other aspect is HANDLING; it would be great (or not) if we didn't have to turn that steering wheel, but alas (or joy), we do and that's where the blinders come off and we get the true measure of a car when we go beyond numbers.......

Not sure this is relevant, but after a weekend at Spring Mountain pushing a GS m7 to the limits on the track in a controlled environment with "only" 460HP, I'm more convinced than ever that the GS stock is more than enough to keep me entertained for sane street driving. A fellow classmate who owns an automatic Z06 actually admitted that he left the class more intimidated by his car than before he took the class. I did add a vitesse throttle controller and find that this give the car much more lively response FWIW.

Have you been accused of trolling? Because I have and I was legitimately speaking of my opinion on the matter. My intention was not to stir up **** as you put it even though I knew my statements might be viewed as controversial it does not follow that my aim and purpose was to just stir up stuff.

Similarly this guy here is complaining that the car that most of us love is "lowly". Don't you think such a claim might get a rise out of people here (and it is) and be considered stirring up stuff? Now that might be his opinion but if I can be called a troll for stating a controversial opinion then yes - he's doing the same thing, IMHO, of course.

460 HP enough?

Not sure, ask the other 98% of car owners on the road with less HP.

I'm multi talented! I can figure out where you're coming from and disagree with you at the same time!

The point being with all the high HP numbers out there....460 seems low in comparison, with the HP numbers game going on today. I never said, our cars were slow.
And I never said you said the car was slow either, Mr. Strawman!

And... What does this subject have to do with my driving ability?

FYI..I bought a GS because it was the nicest Corvette that I could comfortably afford. If I could have comfortably afforded a Z06....I would have had one!
And that was precisely why I said you *sounded* like a troll. I could not think why you would be complaining about a lack of HP when you clearly just recently bought a GS. Now you're thinking of trading it in. You knew full well what the HP was and you made the voluntary decision to purchase the GS and now your bitching about it?!? If you were not satisfied then you shouldn't have bought anything.

If any one is a troll... it is you! BTW....those Z51 stickers on your hood look stupid!
More name calling! I guess I touched a nerve and quite frankly I'm not really sorry that I did. You seem to have such a pleasant personality.... Bye! PLONK!

The '04 C5 Z had 405 bhp, the '05 C6 had 400, the C6 Z had 505 bhp the C7 Stingray has 460....I don't get it. I think we got jipped in the bhp department, minimum it should've been 500 IMO. Also the C7 gained weight.

It occurs to me that in this case you are the troll. Many people including myself have purchased a stingray or GS due to buget restraints/practicality while still dreaming of owning a Z. The OP was just voicing that.

I think anyone who buys a Corvette, or any car with only 460 hp is an idiot.

How's that for trolling?

Just kidding guys! I think when you get to the level of power that even a base C7 has, the cars are so fast it may take more driver skill to avoid a ticket than to handle the power.

Michael

Honestly I got a Z06 with the 650HP forBRAGGING RIGHTS FOR MYSELF since I will never use the power! I honestly would not have traded in my 2014 Z51 for a GS with the same HP like I did not trade my 2008 C6 LS3 for a C6 GS even though the WIDE BODY GS 'S look better . I just could not spend the money on the same engine but I could spend the money on the Z06! GARY ONCE YOU GO DOWN THIS ROAD YOU WILL BE IN A Z06 BY THE END OF THE SUMMER IF NOT SOONER!

GARY JUST TO MAKE YOUR DESCION QUICKER I POSTED A COUPLE OF PICTURES FOR YOU!! CORVETTE# 37 IS GETTING CLOSER FOR YOU! !

The fastest drivers I see are fat chicks in Rav 4s. They ride your *** at 85 , let them pass and they ride the next guys ***.

Seems like a dick measuring contest unless you're driving competition.

What he said.

The car's HP means nothing if you don't have the skill to drive it.

The size of your wallet determines the amount of horses in your stable, for most people. I understand you are using demons and hellcats are HP examples, but please keep in mind the real world is full of roads that eventually curve and bend. I'm a muscle car guy, love the looks of the Challenger, and have driven a close friend's hellcat on many occations, but HP is not everything.

To the original OP,

Just prior to purchasing my Z06, I test drove a Stingray and was thoroughly disappointed with the acceleration (for my taste). This lack of acceleration alone steered me away. I knew the handling performance would have been well as corvette designers are great, BUT I too feel just about the same as you do. We drive CORVETTES; America's highest performing sports cars whether on tracks, autoX events, road courses, etc. EVERY corvette is awesome when you look at the whole package but I feel that the 50 thousand plus dollars for the base Stingray would put you in a higher HP range. I love ALL cars and truly like talking to people about them. Now that I did my pre-story, I often hear owners make comments like "I drive a performance car but 650 hp is too much". What performance car owner in their right mind doesn't want more horsepower. Although most owners will never even see a road course or track and that's okay; hell it's their cars and they can eat ice-cream off of it for all I care, but I am always weary of advice from people who can read the brochure. When I hear statements like "my auto runs 2.9 and your manual runs 3.2", comments like that go straight to the trash bin. You can instantly tell that person has no clue about their actual performance based on their abilities and/or lack of and what it takes to get there. I call them BROCHURE COMMENTS. Hell, give me a Miata and I will show you how to drive the tires off of it and how it could truly perform. I am just merely stating we DRIVE performance cars so who in their right mind says they do not want more performance.
*** My 2 cents - look for a 15' or 16' Z06 in the price range you can afford. I am soooo glad I did. If you are thinking about upgrading now, you will always have this question every time you see a Z06. Are you determined to have a BRAND NEW Z06 or would you be willing to find a slightly used one?
++For you negative Nancy's on this forum, please HOLD YOUR COMMENTS and do not explain how your Stingray and GS is so awesome and handles so well. I know. This is my 3rd vette and I love all of them. I can also read the Car and Driver article that so many people utilize to quote their cars performance.

I get it. I have a modded c7 with 800whp. It doesn't feel like enough for me. I like the rush of acceleration, it feels fantastic. When I drove mine stock, I was bored very quickly. Now I wish I bought a z06 because of the stronger bottom end because I want more power.
