GM doesn’t offer an add-on, and the aftermarket won’t create one. Hence that answer.
That's a kind of answer but not the correct one. A CD player simply will not function within the limitations of the current Corvette infotainment system. Another note on this---the area behind the screen was designed and intended for CD players, not as "electric door stash bins".
If you are still using CDs then you must have issues. Why carry all that junk around when literally every song in the history of mankind is on the apple and android store and and it wont "Skip" either like your scratched 20 year old CD. I think they need to stop putting CD players in cars. Complete Waste.
So just because you have no interest in a cd player anybody who does has issues? Cd players are a complete waste? They do still sell cd's I believe. Kind of tough to play without a cd player don't you think. There are a lot of options for a C7 that I have no interest in that other people (maybe you) would be upset to see go away. Why is it that people feel the need to ridicule someone who still wants to utilize their cd collection? GM dropped the ball on this in my opinion. Make it optional at extra cost if you have to but offer a cd player.

Using that logic they should offer a cassette player as an option too.
Do they still sell cassettes? Time for you to move on and take your attitude with you.
Yes. You can still buy vinyl records, should GM offer that as an option too?
I’ll pass on your suggestion to “move on” unless it’s against forum rules to disagree with you. Automakers sell what the majority of buyers want, not what a few people who hate progress want. That’s called reality.

Earlier you commented on my logic. Your comment concerning vinyl records shows you don't have a reasonable argument so you go to the absurd.

They need to ridicule because they don't have to look you in the face when they do it. Or they would think twice.
Trash CD players if you must, and I haven't purchased a CD in 10+ years but by FAR the best sound I got out of the stock sound system in my 2007 Corvette (the used C6 that was my first Vette that I traded on my current C7) was from .... the in-dash CD player. Go figure.

The My Link Software supports CDs, just as CUE did. The current HMI 2.0 is just an updated revision of 1.1 and 1.2 which both actually had CD Players.
GM decided they would rather have additional storage than using the space for CD Players. It was a packaging decision. In the ATS and CTS the CD Player was in the glove box. This was so when they removed it they wouldn't have to redesign the center stack.
So I'm not sure why you think what you do. It's not correct.
I worked on the program as a supplier from Mule to half way thru IVER. I sat in some meetings as a supplier where they went over stuff like this.
Further I worked on about 10 GM programs in that 2.5 years. You can get a taste of how GM operates when you sit on site in their building (I was on the 6th floor in the VEC) and you understand their organization (and see their e-mails).
It's funny, GM gives suppliers GM computers, makes them fill out every part change on GM systems, and since we also have GM e-mails we got all the corporate "spam" letters. A lot of the things I generically know about GM came from reading that stuff.
Over the years, I have sat in many meetings at OEMs concerning packaging of the interior. Believe me, every bit of space is precious. OEMs aren't going to give up real estate and for something a small minority of people want. They believe that the physical space and engineering time can be used for other things.
As LT1 Z51 has said, CD players are going away as new vehicles are developed. It's just a fact.

It was reported earlier on the forum by someone who seemed to have GM connections the original plan was to put one behind the screen.
I believe it was scrapped after worries about engine heat affecting the player.
Also, CD players do put out some heat, albeit with modern players it is not much and they will fail if not properly allowed to vent.

That's OK...as long as it is still offered as an option or at least have someplace in the car to put an aftermarket unit.
Does the term ancient hoarder resonate with you? Are you trying to rival the Smithsonian? I can see keeping a dwell meter or an old holly double pumper for sentimental reasons but you seem to have excelled in "Keeping stuff".
I'm sorry to say, I have similar stuff as you getting dust in drawers and closets too. Hey! It might make a comeback!

Not really because I’m hoardng, just too lazy to throw it out and have too much room in the attic!
Just needed some room in one area and donated two full boxes of ‘78 records we brought when we moved down South 35 years ago! A friend’s son has a collection and actually listens to them! Vinyl is coming back!

Likely the “temporary” spot for the CD Player in 2014 was behind the screen. Like the ATS/CTS used the glove box.
I’d buy this was abandoned due to heat issues. But the reasons for “hiding” the CD Player was to be able to “decontent” it later. GM has strategically been removing CD Players.

This probably looks normal to you, but it's obvious you're posting from an Apple device without the fix because a lot of it is gibberish to the rest of us. Just an FYI.

Actually, I'm posting from the Garage Talk app, which happens to be on my iPhone. However my iPhone is up to date. So all the ' and " being turned into crap is the Garage Talk apps fault. I complained about it, but it fell on deaf ears. The app is slow, horrible, and doesn't post things right. But it's better than the web interface on mobile.
This post was from my computer.
