The F32 BMW was released in 2013 (as a 2014), and therefore designed around 2009. So it makes sense that it has one.

The C7 is ahead of the curve in removing the CD Player, but mark my work IT WILL HAPPEN in all cars.

This one is even better than the example you quoted. The C520 Escape is a derivation of the C346 Focus (and C344 C-Max) both of which saw release in 2012 which means they were designed in 2007. So obviously it has a CD Player.

This is the perfect example of a car riding on a platform that is older than the car (the Transit Connect is an even better example as the one launched in 2014 is the same platform as well!)

The people that say they can are listening via bluetooth streaming, which compresses the already compressed stream, which is why it doesn't sound as good.
Over 300 kbps MP3 is transparent unless someone has a HIGH END sound system, and has an ear for music. I'm pretty picky, and I can't tell the difference. However, I can tell you Vinyl versus a CD on a good system.

This gets to be even less of an issue if you use a lossless format, or leave them in WAV.

Listening over Bluetooth is just a bad idea for anything. I find Apples Air Play to even be superior. But a wired connection is best.

My 2016 Silverado has a CD player in its 8" MyLink Infotainment unit which is essentially the same platform as in my C7.

I have to admit, though, that I had to go out and check to make sure before posting this because I have never used the thing.

K2XX still has a CD Player. That model year was when GM was trying to decide how to change. I think truck buyers dislike change the most, so they kept it for them. I think it was the LAST program at GM to have the provision in development.

The new Malibu (E2XX), XT5/Acadia/Traverse (C1XX), Envision/Equinox/Terrain (D2UX), Cruze/Volt (D2XX), Bolt/Trax (G2XX), Camaro (A1XX), CT6 (O1XX)

The ATS, CTS (also A1XX) had them in the glove box when released, but it's now removed.

Impala, Colorado and the Trucks are the only current Chevy's which have them I think. All the new versions of those won't. IMpala moves to E2XX, and the other two get all new platforms.

One last time(maybe)---the ONLY reason the C7 Corvette has no CD player availability is due to the deficient infotainment system that GM has decided to use cannot support both NAV system & CD player.

That's false.

My Link in the Corvette is based on CUE (the one in the ATS/CTS), both of which had a CD Player. GM didn't want to package the CD Player, it's that simple. They take up space and it was decided there was no room for one.

Yep, don't have my 8 Track or Cassette players either.

In fact still have a few floppy disks, iOmega Zip memory and mini CD's but no longer ways to use them! Even have a folder with Ti 59 Programmable Calculator magnetic memory strips but the calculator no longer works! Got to throw out some of that junk!

then wonder why there's NO aftermarket CD player add-ons avail? Try any car audio dealer & you'll hear the same fact I stated above.

GM doesn’t offer an add-on, and the aftermarket won’t create one. Hence that answer.

Car audio guys, while knowledgeable about a lot of things, aren’t the definitive source for understanding OEM systems from a part design perspective.

Does the term ancient hoarder resonate with you? Are you trying to rival the Smithsonian? I can see keeping a dwell meter or an old holly double pumper for sentimental reasons but you seem to have excelled in "Keeping stuff".

I'm sorry to say, I have similar stuff as you getting dust in drawers and closets too. Hey! It might make a comeback!

I hate these newfangled computers and calculators, I wish they still sold slide rules.

These "I bought a new car but want the old, outdated amenities in it" threads crack me up.

If you need a slide rule, let me know. I have quite a few, from my parents.

I learned nuclear engineering on one. Still have it. Haven't used it since I graduated Naval Nuclear Power School. Not sure I could multiply 2x2 on it now.

Rip them and number them with two digits numbers

Book01
Book02
...
Book12

Then copy them to a USB drive and they should show up in that order.

Don't call them Book1, Book2, etc. because that won't sort correctly. The Book01 part is important.

If you are still using CDs then you must have issues. Why carry all that junk around when literally every song in the history of mankind is on the apple and android store and and it wont "Skip" either like your scratched 20 year old CD. I think they need to stop putting CD players in cars. Complete Waste.

[QUOTE=LT1 Z51;1596066450]GM doesn’t offer an add-on, and the aftermarket won’t create one. Hence that answer.

That's a kind of answer but not the correct one. A CD player simply will not function within the limitations of the current Corvette infotainment system. Another note on this---the area behind the screen was designed and intended for CD players, not as "electric door stash bins".
