While standing behind the car and remote starting it there's nothing like feeling the low frequency exhaust thump going through your chest along with the brutal growl that accompanies it during a cold start in track mode with the performance exhaust! The driving note is great!!
Would be less expensive is to have a muffler shop install a cut-out kit, shown below, than an aftermarket muffler. Only ~$120 on eBay. Reminds me of what we did "in-the-day" using a choke cable to operate! These operate with a supplied remote electrical switch!
Would have to weld into the exhaust pipe before the muffler.
Cut-out is the most fun I've ever had with any mod.
So many tricks you can pull with one. You sitting at the starting line, car is very loud. Ears next to you hear that loud car, muscles tense. You know the feeling.
SO many times, the race light turns green and the fellow next to you is waiting/expecting to hear the loud roar of an engine, but instead, your car silently rips away while they barely have time to react or comprehend what just happened.
I have the performance exhaust however don't know how one without that sounds. What I can tell you is you should be able to get 1-2k knocked off that price at least minimum and I'd tell the sales man adios if he says no.

$2k off the price because it's missing an $1100 option? Good luck with that
Yeah I'm not sure how much lower they will go. Basically the car is 46600 before taxes and title and WITHOUT chevy loyalty, 49800 out the door. Told me that if I could find a beater chevy they'd give me another 3k off so 43600. I don't think any of the volume dealers on this site would give me that price without loyalty. The best price I got from a big volume dealer was 51900 out the door for a 1LT with the only option being the performance exhaust in a color i didn't care for and this car was 6 hours away. The local car is the exterior and interior color I want with chrome wheels being the add on option but obviously without the exhaust. We just got a ton of snow and single digit temps so I may take my chances and hold off until after January 1 and see if they will go even lower.
Guys,
new to the Forum
I just purchased an older Corvette 2008 Z51 Automatic for a weekend driver, then maybe upgrade in a couple of years
I have read about the Z51 Having the performance exhaust, not sure if mine does. Either way, what are one or two Recommendations
for an exhaust upgrade to make my car sound a bit more aggressive ?
First welcome to the forum! The easiest way to check for the NPP exhaust is to look inside the outboard exhaust tips at the bumper & if there are butterfly valves visible, you got it. As far as other aftermarket exhaust systems or mods, see all previous posts in this thread. Since you have a C6 you will find more pertinent info on that forum. Click on the Forum tab at top of page to locate all applicable model yrs & whether technical info or general. If you have not done so then click on tabs at top of page to find forum rules/FAQ, Vendor links, etc. Ton of info here just takes awhile to find where to look. Again, WELCOME!
Looking to buy my first corvette this week. Found a new 2017 1LT stingray in my preferred exterior and interior colors. I don't have chevy loyalty but the dealer is quoting 49k out the door. The only thing its missing is the performance exhaust. Would that be a deal breaker for you? Unfortunately its too cold and snowy for me to test drive it and hear it for myself.
I've got the standard exhaust, and it seems loud enough to me.
The thing is, are you the kind of guy who will spend the next couple of years hearing the standard exhaust and wondering what you're missing, or are you not that guy?
Figure that out and you'll know what choice to make.
PS: That price seems like a good one.

No warranty issues with cut-outs or with anything past the secondary CATS. In fact there are many adding what they call a cross over pipe that replaces the secondary CATS with a piece of pipe. Although aftermarket pipes include a cross over the OEM pipe has about the same crossover in the same place! Don't believe I have heard of a warranty issue although States like CA, would no pass emissions tests if the find it !

Agreed. That price is very good and the exhaust is an easy fix.

Does not hurt to try ....... dealer may be desperate to get rid of the car.

If it's a '17, doesn't the employee pricing go out the window ? One reaches a point of diminishing returns. Will GM come up with a better deal to help move '17 MY cars ? How good is your magic 8 ball ?
