The Vert is 2 cars in one.If it is to hot with top down..Well,Push button. Can be moving up to 35.Close the top turn on AC.
It's to noisy over 55mphr with top down..Well,Push Button.Close the top. While moving(below 35mphr).It is usually noisy with any car...When the windows are down.Simply close windows turn on AC.
It's to hot in my Coupe with the roof off..Well,Pull over.Find a non traffic area,Open Both Doors,Reapply Roof.Make Sure attached properly.Turn on AC
It's to noisy in my Coupe with roof off after 55mphr.Well,Pullover.Find a safe area on the side of the highway.Open 1 Door in the travel lane.Pickup ripped off damage door.Put in hatchback.Call ONSTAR From your Cell.
The feeling of top down rear car open can't be duplicated in a hatchback.
The vert is a wide open sports car and a Quieter luxury sports car with simply a PUSH OF A BUTTON.

Yep, and the high-quality fabric, insulated convertible tops today actually require less maintenance. Nothing to wax and polish, and unless left outdoors all the time will last way longer than most anyone plans on keeping the car. All it really requires is a plain water rinse down when you wash the rest of the car, and let it air dry.

It's not like old school plastic convertible tops.

I just bought one. Everyone was looking at me weird when I said I wanted a convertible this time, but once they saw it, they all understood. I've had both a coupe and a convertible now, and the convertible is well worth the extra $6k. I like having the option, and so far have rarely put the top up except for highway speeds over 65 MPH. Money well spent, IMO.

If the top don't drop, I ain't gonna buy it. Jimbob, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, make yourself happy. Life's just to short to drive a coupe.

BTW, ALL this whoha about you can't take a Vert on a road trip is bunk. We've taken several 3+ week road trips in ours. You just have to use your brain a little, and you can take enough along to suit you. Plus, you can put the top down with the truck full. When I see a photo of a coupes rear full, I wonder where they will put the top if they want to go topless.

There's nothing like that perfect day with the top down, your bestie by your side, driving down a quiet back road. It's the best blood pressure medicine known to man, and woman (that's for my ginger girl Lisa)

I had 2 C5 'verts and loved them but I knew that I was going to track my C7 so getting a 'vert was not an option (I'm not adding a PITA rollcage) besides, I like my cars leak free when washing them.

I have never owned a convertible, but if I get another Corvette, I'm thinking it should have a soft top. Anyone else feel the same?
That's $4,000 you saved and you can buy a lot of gasoline/insurance with that money. Most people who buy Corvettes don't even drive them enough to benefit from the increased expense.

My mother had verts all her married life, so for me they were never anything special... and, sometimes a pain as daily drivers. I've owned a few; I still have one but not my C5 nor C7.

LOL . . . another ancient myth that will never die. It's been a long time since convertibles had leak problems.

Corvette soft tops have advanced light years. No more wind whistling in, no water leaking, no yellowing plastic rear windows, no hot or frigid temps from lack of insulation. Yep, they have really figured out how to make a great Vette convertible top.

In all frankness, the hatchbacks can be used as campers, and hauling larger house livestock to kennel in the cabin with you. Other than that, they're not better than a convertible, on every count.

You can track convertibles. You've got to find the right track, or outfit your car for the track. So, that's not a problem either. If the only reason you're buying a C7 is to track it, you won't be buying a convertible anyway.

Convertible trunks are huge, whether the top is up or down. I was extremely impressed on their space! Hatchbacks always either expose your cargo, or suggest they're hauling it. You can't hide valuables in the exposed, glass hatchbacks.

Convertibles are costlier because they're more valuable. When you're spending $50K to $80K for a new C7 are you really that strapped to pay a few grand more for a convertible? If so, they may be out of your league.

Is it any more comfortable sitting in the hot sun in a partially removable targa top hatchback, than a full open air convertible? Really? You probably haven't thought that one through. Do you also never use your air-conditioning because you believe hatchbacks are less hot in the Sun!?

OK, so go find a place to pull over and spend 5 minutes digging under your loaded hatchback's cargo, to fish out the flimsy, miserable to store top. You guys must've loved T-tops, and loved fooling with them then.

I had my C6 Convertible for 8 years and the top required no maintenance. It was in good shape when I sold the car. My only gripe was that the tan top showed line from the frame. I bought a black top this time.

I think they all show some frame lines but the tan ones are more noticeable. I know this guy who has a Convertible but will not put the top down because he is afraid of creases. Why buy a Convertible then?

Unless you're washing a car with a fire hose, boosted by a pumper truck there's no issues. Take a modern Corvette through an automatic touchless car wash (yes, fully aware it's warned against in the manual) and it's perfectly fine. Hell, you could take a pressure washer to it and would have no worse results compared to a coupe. Ok, will concede some would need to be warned to put the top up 1st but they can also tell you which color paint chips taste better...

Come on guys, let's get real here. No, the C7 (or the C6 for that matter) doesn't leak without a mechanical failure, the back window doesn't yellow (as Kevin alluded to) and is not the same rag-top from 30 years ago. No more maintenance than any other model other than a quick brushing of the top with a mild soap when washing. If it bugs you, add a 303 treatment once every few years but in truth not really needed. Perhaps a new top once in a decade if it's daily driven but that would be a stretch.

There are obvious differences between the coupe and convertible but some misconceptions out there from convertibles decades ago are simply not true...

Default Vert or Coupe

At the end of the day it's all a matter of choice. Some people like Pepsi and other's like Coke. All of you have a good reason why one is better than the other. Guess what that's why Chevrolet offers both. For you Vert people are you really saying that a coupe is not a true AMERICAN SPORTS CAR. They all are. Let's all just get along. We are all blessed and lucky just to be having conversations like this.

That's why I bought one 20+ years before that.

Plus, I could try really hard and still not give a flying rats sphincter what others think...
