The C7 Convertible is built so well, with the top up it seems like a coupe. But with the top down, it’s fantastic...a real experience. Even in Northern Nevada, if it ain’t raining or snowing, the top is down.
One of the things many folks do not realize is that there is extra storage space in the trunk via the drop-down panel, if traveling with the top up. Adds A LOT of additional space.
It's the OEM C7 carry-on rolling luggage you can order with your C7 or purchase on-line.
I took the photo at the last "Corvettes at Carlisle". They had the fully packed luggage in the back of a C7 to both promote the luggage and to demonstrate how much space is in a C7 vert trunk.

It's just a personal preference thing; to me they look as good with top up as down.
I really wanted a vert as I think they look great, BUT I don't think I look great driving one. Something about mid 60 guys in vets. lol
If you're embarrassed to be seen driving a convertible, you're going to be embarrassed being seen in the hatchback too!
The stereotype of an elderly, bald, paunch-stomach guy wearing a baseball cap lives in new Corvettes. It's NOT convertible-specific. The same applies to the hatchbacks.
Corvette soft tops have advanced light years. No more wind whistling in, no water leaking, no yellowing plastic rear windows, no hot or frigid temps from lack of insulation. Yep, they have really figured out how to make a great Vette convertible top.
Another thing I really like about the C7 vert top design is the rubber/vinyl strip around the rear deck for the top rear bow to rest on. Big improvement from the ugly stain usually found on C2-C3 rear decks from the tops rubber gasket.

OK, I have a confession to make. I have NEVER had the top down on my C7. I don't even know if it works.
Of course, it was 25º on delivery day, and it's been in the 40ºs ever since or raining. We've had about 6" of rain in the last 11 days, which was when I picked it up. Even so, I've managed to put over 300 miles on it.
Tomorrow will be sunny and in the 70ºs. I hope the top works.
I waffle because I love the waterfall between the seats on a vert - but I love the look of the rear of the coupe - and I like the extra security of the coupe. With the top off I think we get the best of both worlds - and more luggage space........but I love both.
Why doesn't the coupe have something similar? Or why isn't there an aftermarket company that does.
I don't recall who, but there is a company that makes one for coupe. It can't look nearly as good because it can't be as tall there is no tie-in to the hard tonneau cover over the top, which makes a beautiful flowing curve.

I think you can figure out the top Foosh . Surprised you haven't fooled with it. Watching it work is like art work. Nice car..enjoy
Yeah, the top was up and down on my '14 all the time. I used it so much, I had complete confidence I didn't need to check this one until it was the right time.

Yeah, I thought the premium Bose sounded good in my old car top up or down. It got even better once I saw the thread about cranking down the midrange to 35%, treble at 90%, bass at 50%, and moving the fader forward a couple of clicks.
It had never occurred to me to try that, but then again, I'm usually just listening to the sound coming out of the 4 stainless steel trumpets at the rear in NPP Track mode.
BTW, that's another advantage of the convertible. Without that big room in the back, the trumpets sound much sweeter with the top down.
Don't get me wrong - I love my C7 coupe, but on sunny days like today (71 degrees and perfect in mid-February in CA) taking the top off the car makes it a different creature all together. I love it so much more. Which leads me to wonder if I should have bought a convertible.
I have never owned a convertible, but if I get another Corvette, I'm thinking it should have a soft top. Anyone else feel the same?
I thought I needed the space for traveling but the vert teaches you how to pack and all is well!
I've not heard of a speed limiter on any C7 model. I believe it's all aero/engine power-determined. Any convertible is going to be more "aero-dirty" with the top down. Coupes are also going to take a drag penalty with the roof panel off.
