I got a quote for tint on my car yesterday. In the quote I asked for ceramic film on all windows including clear ceramic for the windshield. The quote was $500.
Does that seem reasonable to you guys who have done it?

I just paid $700 for 70% on everything including the windshield, so I'd say yes.
Looking at raw film prices I've found that tint which is lighter (as in it lets more light through) is more expensive. My theory is that this is do to process controls, the tint must be clearer and can have less blemishes.
Type of film also plays a big factor with your ceramic type films being much more expensive than your standard non-metallic and metallic types.
My cost was for example 70% film (the lightest), ceramic nano film (one of the more expensive types) and for the whole car (so the most coverage). I would not expect to see pricing higher than what I paid. In fact I would expect most to be less.
Anything under $300 that included the windshield I'd be wary of though. Windshields are usually very visible tint, and are the most difficult to install. I'd expect $150-$200 just for that piece of glass.

Been following this somewhat & I'm confused. Since our (at least my '16 Z) cars are 70% on all windows, why would you pay anyone to put the same amount of tint on your windows? Each of my windows says 70% in small writing. Just trying to wrap my tiny mind around your reason for overlapping what the factory put on.

Tint protects against UV, and ceramic tint block most of the IR wavelengths. Stock dying of the glass doesn't do that, it only provides visible light reduction and some UV protection.
I am interested in tint not for the visual effects, but rather the cooling effect and the reduction of fading and wear on my leather.
For all you guys that have had tint installed. What did your installer do with the dots on the small side windows? I thought I saw that they create a triangle when the film is installed. I contacted an installer and when I brought that to his attention he said he would remove them with steel wool. Then there is the small icons on the rear window, are those a problem also?
I believe any steel wool would seriously scratch the glass. I had tint on 2 Vettes & there was no problem putting the tint film down over the things you speak of.

Steel wool will can scratch the window. Don't ask me how I know. Not saying it will, but it definitely can.
Anybody have LEO problems when they leave their state with legal tints and go to another state that has very different requirements?
In theory an out of state cop can't cite you but up north they will.
USAF?
I know people who have gotten pulled over, but if they show a license and registration from another state typically they are let go.
What I have heard people getting in trouble for is living in a state 1/2 the year and having a car that is tinted. They usually can't prove this unless your license or registration are in the state they pull you over in.
Up here it's a lot of Florida plated cars driven by folks with Michigan drivers licenses.

Only once I have I ever been given a hard time about Tint. Had a State trouper in Mississippi try to make me scrape my tint, said it was too dark. I kept telling him it was legal in TN, which it really wasn't. TN is 35% my my car is 30%. He finally let me go, but told me if I was on a State road he would not have.
I have been all through OH, IN and MI with no issues with my tint.
