Let me tell you something PDiddle, all the nannies in the world won't keep even a base C7 out of the weeds. 6 weeks ago I killed it in 1st gear at a light at start up in my base M7 C7. There was a pick up right on my a** that I was afraid was going to rear end me, and upon restart of my C7 M7, popped the clutch zealously trying to move out quickly. The rear end lit up like a Christmas tree as I inadvertently burned dual rubber away from the light
Guess what? ALL nannies ON!!! Didn't seem to make difference to my M7 C7. I was never beyond 1/2 throttle! The nannies don't seem to be able to overcome the M7 at any rate. It didn't scare me. It did alert me to the caution needed driving these beasts! That I'll tell ya!

I prefer a smooth ride as well, my base Stingray is even a bit softer then the MRC on touring. It’s smoother then my C6 and my C5 was. I understand the MRC isn’t too bad though on touring.

Jerry, I wouldn't let skid mark Joe's posts bother you. Anyone who spends time on this forum realizes what a great benefit your posts/contributions are to this forum. On the other hand Joe seems to be here just to antagonize people and stir up trouble.

Thanks!

I don't, it would take a lot more than his rhetoric to get me upset!! It's just fun to respond to the few posts where he makes partial sense! But it's so few think I'll give up!

I expect a firmer ride in any new C7. My C7's MSRC's Touring setting is just about what I would expect from this high performance car. If you wanted a soft ride, perhaps an Impala or Malibu might fit the bill?

Hmmmm...that’s a weird response. So any option softer then your car is no good.
I guess I have to get rid of my Stingray now.

Yes, you can always trade out to an Impala or Malibu. Check 'em out.

I'll keep my C7 MSRC exactly as is.

Me personally, there just isn’t enough difference to me to trade a Stingray for a GS. And sometimes when looking at both cars, you almost can’t even tell which is the wide body. The bench numbers are so close, you won’t be able to tell a difference in performance.

As for MRC, depending on your use, I don’t think it’s needed. I think mine rides great without it. I couldn’t tell any difference in the Z51 I tested but also wasn’t pushing either car. There is always a similar discussion in the Porsche forums when it comes to PASM. The purists will say you have to have it, it’s almost not even a Porsche without it, or you’re a cheapskate or probably shouldn’t buy the car because you can’t afford to outfit it properly lol.

I had a 2014 Stingray, 3LT, Z51, M7 with NPP and Mag ride. I traded it for my 18 Grand Sport with 3LT and M7.

The Stingray with mag ride was a slight bit smoother. I am sure that is only because of the much wider tires on the GS. Both great cars, but luxury level was the same, both mag ride, both 3LT.

This is easy, the first Grand Sport Corvette was a 1963. Five were made.

Never realized that is what that dash Grand Sport medallion was supposed to symbolize!

Funny, Zora Duntov hated that split window bar so much (as none functional and blocking vision) he had it removed from the '64 in a battle with the GM's design head Bill Mitchell! In fact Duntov refused to put the split bar on his 5 racing '63 Grand Sport Race Cars!

Bet Dontov was upset that he won the battel with Bill Mitchell and got the "Split Window" removed from the '64 and made the '63 the most valuable old Vette!

The weight difference is insignificant. What's significant is the difference in looks.

Just my humble opinion,..... the wider GS is sleeker and just looks exponentially more bad ***.

And if it matters, the GS will bring more $$$ when you go to resale.

Well, yes, it's not going to keep the tires from spinning if you drop the clutch, but on the road course, they do a pretty darn good job.

The revs weren't high, and the clutch wasn't dropped or dumped. It was popped zealously, and no more than 1/2 throttle was engaged. Regardless, it overcame the TC, which I never disengage. Not into street racing - so it's not going to be an issue at speed. Caution is advised nonetheless.

I didn't want half the crappola that came standard on my base car, so I SURE didn't want even more with the other models.

Anybody who wants a narrow-body Vette just has to go buy one. No kits necessary.

So then those who buy widebody kits should have bought a GS then?
