Yep, an actual car dryer works better and quicker. And it only takes one time blowing gritty un-filtered air onto your finish and it will look like you sand papered it.
There's a lot to be said for 'using the right tool for the job.
been using a Stihl gas leaf blower for years. Not sure how using it on my driveway on a gorgeous day would pull in gritty air. Don’t think many guys are wash8ng /drying their car in a dust storm, would love a dedicated blower, just can’t justify the price.

I've been using a leaf-blower for 2 years now and I only use it for drying off my car. The only weird thing was the first couple of times I was using it, I wondered if the neighbors would think I was nuts. My wife did come out to the garage and looked at me for a minute, shook her head, and went back into the house without a word. But now it's a normal thing and I don't even think about what it may look like.
Here's what I use, only I removed that extra extended nozzle...
I use a CR Spotless water system for washing, and my gas (another Stihl user) blower for drying. My neighbor thinks I'm nuts, but he doesn't get it. He has no respect for his own stuff.
Thanks to the forum's suggestion, I can now get my car 90% dry with my leaf blower. Makes drying all the nooks and crannies much easier. Cut my time way down! Thanks for the tips, ladies and gents!
I use mine to blow out stuff that has fallen under the seat.
If you use a Master Blaster (the bigger one with 2 4HP motors) you will never look at a leaf blower again. Just saying.
I took a look at the Master Blaster. They say two 4HP (peak) which got me to look at the specs as I was thinking that you would need a dedicated 240 volt line and 30 amps. But no, MB says 19 amps @120volts. With 746 watts per HP, this "8HP" unit really is more like three horsepower. Nothing like trying to defraud your customers. The word peak gives a lot of license to steal. Kind of like the old car stereo ads that used "Music watts".....more meaningless metrics.
I’ve been using a leaf blower for many, many years... and most of the car enthusiasts that I know uses them too. I’ve never heard of a mishap regarding the lack of a filter or dedicated device. Another forum wives’ tail. Did someone somewhere suck in an object... possibly, but I’m confident that commen sense will yield satisfying results.

First of all, it doesn't take a dust storm for your leaf blower to suck up dust/dirt from the air and discharge on to your car's finish as your blower's air intake is sucking with as much force as it's discharging.
Car dryer designers/manufacturers don't include intake filters on their machines just to drive up their costs.
Secondly, I can dry my GS vert in about a third the time with my dryer than it takes with my leaf blower as it also evaporates water as opposed to just pushing it around.
Use whatever your want for drying your car, all I'm saying is there's advantages in using the right tool for the job.
Just goes to show you can overcharge for a blower, say it has a jet blast, uses FILTERS, and people will shell out the $$$! I was one who tried a Master Blaster. Yea, it blew like the wind, but it is NOT four-five times better (comparing the cost) than a dedicated Toro leaf blower. Needless to say I returned it.
I read that the master blaster uses warm air too. Does that aid in the drying then?
Of course. Unlike a leaf blower, the nozzle is also narrow so it really does "blast" out the air. You also work with a hose only so you need not be lifting the leaf blower. But NONE of these blower options will dry the cavities on the sides of the trunk in a vert. The lakes form there every time you wash the car and must be mopped up. Vert people: OPEN THE TRUNK. You will be amazed at how much water collects there.
at first I used my gas powered leaf blower, but discovered a faint rainbow type reflection on the cars surface occasionally. A quick wipe down with detailing spray removed this.
I switched to an electric blower and never had that issue. I am guessing that some of the 2 stroke exhaust from the gas version was being picked up by the blower and blown onto the car.
I now use the AF Master Blaster; worth every penny IMO.
I tried my leaf blower, but it was not as good as a old shop vac. My vac allows the motro to be removed, and you can attach a hose to its output. It works great!
But now it's a normal thing and I don't even think about what it may look like.
