Are all the LEDs on the Range module illuminated when the car is running and its plugged in to the OBD2 port? If so and you are still seeing the car go into V4 mode then you have a defective unit for sure.

First time I drove with it was at night and the lights were blinking constantly. It was very annoying to say the least. Next time I tried it was during the day, so I couldn't really tell what the lights were doing. When it goes into V4 mode, it's only for a second and then it goes right back to V8.

Gonna call Range again right now...
You’ve had nothing but trouble from day one. Bummer. Hope it eventually works out for you.
To the OP and Formula 52, I'm not sure if this matters but just out of curiosity what year are your cars? I'm wondering if both your cars are the same year and possibly 18's or 19's. Maybe Range has overlooked something in the newer cars.

Nope... '17 GS.
Had to leave a vm for Range as I've tried 3 times to get through. Must be a busy day for them.

Go to their website.... rangetechnology.com...and go to support/faq’s. Find the link at the top right-hand side “Submit a Request” and tell them what you’ve told us.
That’s what I did when I needed to upgrade my old unit for the latest version. I got quick responses and instruction on how to return the old unit.
Never had any issues at all with my Range unit. If it lights up and everything it's possible the packaged the wrong unit in the box. They also offer one that makes the car stay in V4 mode more often for greater fuel economy.
Mine never goes into V4 mode with the Range installed. I have noticed that with cruise control engaged, the car runs a bit rough going up and down hill. It does keep the speed set on cruise control much better on hills with the Range installed. Overall gas mileage has decreased by about 2 MPG with the Range installed.
I had read enough good things to know the Range was worth it. So, I was a bit surprised when my car was running so weird with it.
The surges on cruise come even on the flats.
I sent an email via their website as well... Still waiting for a reply. They close in an hour.
