Has anyone else driven your C7?
Curious if you guys feel comfortable handing the keys over to someone else. Throughout the years my neighbor has helped me with many home repairs, takes care of my dog, and keeps an eye on my home when we're out of town. He dropped a couple hints about how he's never driven, or even been a passenger in any generation Corvette. I told him well today's your lucky day. It so happened to be his 20th anniversary. I filled up the tank, handed him the keys and told him to go get his wife and take her out in the C7. Four hours later he returned with the biggest smile on his face. I will admit I was a nervous wreck. And it was the longest four hours of my life! But that stupid grin on his face was priceless.

I gave my convertible to my best friend for a week while I helped my son move to Montana. But then he has owned close to 40 Corvettes and convinced me into classic Corvettes 20 years ago. You know, the car is insured.
P.S. I have also had a few friends, son, daughter and son-in-law drive the C7 and the C2.

I have let all three of my grown sons (36, 38 & 40) drive my C7 (but not my C1). I want them to have experienced what a car is supposed to be. And to understand why I have one and they don't. Yet.
Yes, I have let my friends drive my corvettes. No big deal they cars and there are quite a few out there. And how do you get others interested in your passion if you don't let them give it a try and want one!
The only people i let drive my c7 without me personally being there was my brother and my best friend. Both of them has damaged the car. Its pretty clear to say i learned my lesson.
First time my best friend hit a wall parking going 3 miles per hour nonetheless paint cracked and had to be repainted. I had to pay half and the color didnt match.
2nd one was i just installed a g3 carbon fiber front splitter for about a week and specifically told my brother to watch the splitter. He curb rashed it. He also only paid half.
3rd time my car was in a body shop and my brother was suppose to go pick it up and drop it back home. He doing me a favor i offered him to take it out for the day and he did and the car got keyed after he parked it in a bust street and went into a resturant for 2 hours.
So that being said, I no longer let anyone drive my car anymore. It doesnt matter if thier feelings are hurt or if I am being **** about a car because it turns out i should be **** about my car because if I wasnt..well i already know how that story goes

I learned from experience.
Back before I was born, my dad had a beautiful ‘68 Chevelle. He and his father built the engine in California. He loved that car and based on the pictures I’ve seen, it was amazing. He lent it to his nephew for a date one night on the condition that it not be raced and he return it washed with a tank of gas. The knock on the door at midnight was his nephew saying he wrapped the car around a pole down the street....racing.
They began to transfer all of the goodies over to a ‘69 SS roller but the job was never finished. The car is still there, it’s a future project for us.
I’m extremely careful about who drives my car. I promised my 21 year old son he could drive my C7 with me in it. I guess I should make good on that.

Only my wife (briefly) and my 40-year old son. Wife has owned and driven 3 manual cars, and she was proficient at it. Though she didn't particularly want to drive the ZO6 we thought it would be prudent for her to at least be able to should it be necessary. She tried and after 2 miles decided she wanted no part of it. My son and I have shared two HPDE days (Road America and Putnam Park, IN.) He can use it anytime we're in the same town.
I'm pretty open about letting people drive mine if I'm with them. But there's only three people who I'd let take it without me. Two of them live out of state and my wife is afraid to drive it, so that makes it an easy situation to deal with.
for 3 or 4 years now...

plenty of people... the employee that drove it off the line in Bowling Green, the person that changed the oil at the dealership, the person that tinted my windows and did the PPF on the front, the inspection guy when I got it registered....
but really, no.... I have never let anyone drive my current car, especially without me. My C6 I let a 17 year old neighbors son drive his girlfriend around the block in our 20mph neighborhood, my 2015 I let a friend from India drive through a 50mph area, he went over a speed bump when we were turning around in a parking lot to head back and scraped the front air dam. It was only the stage 1 'poverty' splitter, so no big deal. My wife drove my 2015 around a parking lot because I made her. She also drove my C6 a few times to work.
The current GS has exposed carbon fiber ground effects all around. Not going to chance anyone breaking these pieces because they don't realize how careful you have to be pulling in to a parking spot or turning into a steep driveway.

Several friends have driven my Z06, everybody in my family except my wife and one granddaughter who doesn't have a driver's license has driven it. My two grandsons have autocrossed it several times, my oldest granddaughter (teenager) has driven it when she comes to visit. They all enjoy the feeling they get when they open the throttle. The grandsons have been able to go to wide open throttle since they were some place where they didn't have to worry about other cars, pedestrians or other obstructions. The youngest one has a tendency to keep his right foot down too long and learned that you do have to allow some room for braking when approaching a U turn at a high speed.

Sure, why not, as others have stated, it's just a car.... loaned it to my doc for two weeks while his truck was in the shop. He swears he didn't hit over 140 but once or twice....
I don't loan the Ferrari for the simple reason the clutch and transmission are so expensive and if one is going to trash either one I'd rather it fall on me, rather than to have the cost fall on friends. I have let my twin sons drive it and run it through the back roads though...
