And I especially love all the OnStar diagnostic failure emails I'm receiving now!

There are 8 AFM lifters but I was trying to say not all lifters were replaced...just the AFM.

We're on the same page... you're right not all lifters were replaced, I mis-typed. In past days Gm would just fix the damaged part and move on.

I just traded my 2016 Z51 M7 coupe for a new 2019 GS A8. Picked up the GS 2 days ago and working on getting the 500 miles logged so I can do the oil change prior to my son and I heading to Bowling Green for the festivities later this month. Ken, glad to hear it was just a minor inconvenience but still disappointing it happened at all.

I wonder if disabling AFM would have made a difference? Less stress on the AFM lifters? Just thinking out loud.

Best of luck to you moving forward. Please keep us posted as things develop.

I mentioned afm lifter failure in another thread but was told it’s not an issue....I’ve seen and heard of too many. I’m going to start a stock cam build for a guy in a few weeks and I will still be replacing the lifters and buckets. The last thing you want to do is void a warranty only to have a GM AFM lifter failure. Talk about being bent over...

I wonder if keeping it out of ECO (never AFM) will prevent this from happening again..

(I'm trying to remain upbeat about this but they've had my car for 2 weeks already and I suspect it will be at LEAST that before I get it back)

Did you ever use AFM? Do they know what caused your failure etc.? Sorry to hear that!

FWIW I have 57K on my 2014 and use AFM on the highway on road trips. No issues.

Ken,
Sorry to hear there will be a delay getting your car back, that sucks! At least they found the other problems and can get it all corrected at one time!
Good luck,
Rich

Any chance you could get them to simply replace the motor? Not sure that would be any quicker, but hopefully fewer things to go wrong.
