Default TPMS question

I have a 2019 Grand sport. Do I need to purchase a reset tool to set each tpms at the 4 corners?
I am switching my street tire setup for my track setup and back after track days. If so - what unit are others buying.
I think I read somewhere new Vettes will "Automatically" reset to the new sensors.
Is this true? so that I don't need the reset tool. Thanx to all that help.

I had to drive around the block and get above 35 mph for mine to relearn themselves. No problem.

Thanx guys for the info. My trips to a friend at a Chevy dealer in my 2006 Vette were a hassel to reset the tpms and now I don't need to do that or purchase the tool. This should make it easier.
Another question --- what do drivers put the psi to when starting a track day?
Do I drop it to 25 and see what it rises to in the turns upon checking it?

Corvette owners school at Spring Mountain recommended 26-28 psi cold
I usually start with 27 psi.
On unusually cool mornings in the spring/fall I'll start at 28 and if I go in the hot/ humid summer( unlikely) I would start at 26

It can take a fairly long time to relearn. I have sensors mounted on my track wheels and one time I drove a whole track day without the sensors connecting to the car. I thought their batteries may have gone bad but when I got to the track the next morning the car connected with the sensors and it was happy.

It is nice that you don’t have to fiddle with using a strong magnet to program the TPS to the car.

So it’s been three days, I have done the relearn process at least a dozen times. Supposedly these are new GM tpms modules bought along with wheels and tires. The car plainly doesn’t see them.

with the relearn, I’m supposed to get a beep when shutting down, but I never get that, just the initial beep and never picks them up.

Other than 4 bad sensors (unlikely but anything is possible). Are there any other options?

I had the same problem, bought TPMS sensors off Amazon, never would learn automatically. Found out on this forum, don't remember actually where, but there are self-learning and non-self learning TPMS sensors, they have different GM part numbers. Bottom line, I took it to the dealership, asked them to use their tool, and $0 and 5 minutes later, all sensors were fine.

As an FYI: These are the ones I purchased that do not self learn, but work fine:

For track wheels it's entirely acceptable. TPMS isn't instant realtime readings, they're polled periodically. If you're relying on TPMS for your pressure readings on the track you're doing it wrong. You get your pressure readings in the hot pit after exiting the track as fast as possible while you have ample heat in the tires.

The readings you get with an accurate gauge in the hot pit is consistently wildly different than whatever nonsense the TPMS happens to say at the time.

Would you mind telling me what you did to " relearn " them? I can't seem to find the procedure.
Thanks

Please disregard this post. Of course I found it 2 minutes after posting this.
Sorry.

Im not saying your wrong just to cause ruckus, but often my hot pit pressures were dang close! and when I felt the tires getting really greasy i would check and sure as heck 40-41 psi I start to lose grip badly! in fact i miss the TPMS in my c7 badly!

The times I've had trackside support and someone to give me readings at hot pit they were off so substantially that i stopped paying attention to them to the point I never replaced them on new wheels. YMMV i wonder if it was a 2015 vs 2016 thing or my TPMS was just bad etc etc.

Tire pressure sensor reset

TPM

You need to simply drive your vehicle at 25 mph for 10 mins and it will relearn sensors automatically.

You can put the car in learn mode by turning the car on, selecting the tire pressure sensor display on the DIC, then holding down the SEL button until the display changes and the horn beeps.
Drive the car about 10 minutes , and the pressures shows on the display. The horn beeps when the car is off, and everything should be working.
If not you need different, or proper sensors. If that doesn't fix it there is something wrong with the cars system. Take it to the dealer I guess. Hope this helps. At least it will give you a place to start.

While the vast majority of owners had no problems with new OEM TPMS sensors, unfortunately, I do have a problem. The car did NOT automatically relearn the new sensors.
I posted about it in this thread (post #28):
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ocedure-2.html

"I got a new set of wheels and tires and I purchased the Tire Pressure Sensor - GM (13598775) form Rock Auto and they did NOT paired automatically. I tried at least a dozen times w/o success (first couple of times the car started the learning sequence itself when I put it in park after I drove it a little plus more tries while I initiated the manual relearn process), I drove the car more than 150 miles in 3 days, still noting. I heard other members having the same issue with the 13598775 where they had to take it to dealer to reset the sensors. Apparently there are some sensors that don't need a reset and some do require a reset. The info page on Rock Auto says activation required for the ones I purchased (I wish I noticed this before I purchased ).

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=6985560&jsn=3

I just purchased a reset tool from Amazon and I'll try it tonight.

I hope it will work... I will follow up with my findings."

This is EXACTLY what happed with mine. No matter how many times I did the relearn, they didn’t. Called the vendor who I got the wheels and tire package from, they were kind enough to send me a tpms tool and in 5 minutes they started reading. Second day, I lost one but it came back in about 3 minutes. Haven’t had a problem now for a few days.

And the vendor told me to keep it in case of any future issues.
