Sorry, but I never understand such threads... either keep a questionable product or return it.

to get other people's experiences with the company, maybe? There's a lot of people on here that have a QuickJack. I was able to ascertain that no one that saw this has had sand in their freiking frame like they made it sound so normal. lol. quite honestly (and I told them this as well) if they were closer, I wouldn't even have given it a second thought. It would have went back and I would have gotten a new one. I think they use that and the difficulty to return it as a way of doing things like this. They want buyer to pay for return as well. (which I would have fought with CC company)

Can't wait to see how you handle your first hydraulic fitting leak. Thankfully this thread has inspired me to get around to installing my new aftermarket fittings today

My Quick Jack came with these? And it also came with the bigger pump?
Purchased mine (5000EXT) from Costco.com, delivered via UPS (aka - Unbelievably Poor Shipping).

My packages looked just like yours, interior was dirty and dusty but was obvious it was infiltration from the very poor packaging.

I believe these come from China and spend a fair amount of time on the slow boat. Not trying to be a dick, but I think you're making a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be. It's well documented that upon delivery these packages look like they've been provided the full UPS treatment. China corrugate is pretty cheap as is and it get to suck in all the moist salt air it can while in the container from china, causing it to deteriorate.

If they work, why spend the time and hassle sending them back and then having to assemble and setup another set?

As for the sound you hear when you are moving them. It' is completely normal and just the air piston adjusting for the difference in pressure. Pressure changes with different angles of moving. NOTE: you also need to add/check the air pressure prior to every use since this is the method used to return the unit to the lowered position. I recommend adding grease to all the pivot points, not sure why they don't suggest it themselves, but it only makes sense to keep it from any premature ware or corrosion.

I appreciate the recommendations and will keep that in mind.

Making a big deal, possibly, but if I wanted a returned unit, or an open box I would have ordered one that way. I didn't, so I don't expect to get one that way.

coming from china? someone else said Canada? Either way, how come the ones at Costco come pretty well shipped to the store? (usually, with the exception of the last couple of units that have been laying around). and even those have problems from what people said. anyway, everyones entitled to their opinion, but if you saw the dirt, dust, sand and rust on a brand new item, maybe you would think differently...

PS the stuff you hear was already determined, from the company themselves, to be sand from sandblasting before painting. Something that no one else seems to have experienced. makes me think they repainted a brand new unit for some reason, maybe? I'll be getting under this thing to work, I don't want a reject one.

Costco in store units are palletized for shipment. Being wrapped and secured on a stable surface has its benefits. If you need to return it, go for it! It's your safety, time and money on the line.

Made in China! See owners manual.

These fittings were from Summit Hydraulics. Found the info in this thread.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...pler-fail.html

I bought them off Amazon:

1 pair of female only
2 pair of male and female
I couldn't find any replacement for the fittings that screw into the pump but quickjack sent me a new pair of those even though i was already out of warranty for a bit

You won't need them if you make sure there's no pressure on the system when you try to connect or disconnect. If not you'll ruin the fittings trying to connect them. If the fitting is hard to connect then press the down button to let the pressure off and you won't have any problem. I almost ruined one of mine trying to connect it when it had pressure on it. Not sure why it happens but it does. Also make sure you have the hose clear when you lift the car. If you manage to pinch the hose under the lift when you raise the car then you won't be able to lower it. I had that happen and it was a pain to get the hose out without damaging it or dropping the car. Just remember to be careful and pay attention. It's a great product.

I would hold the down button for prob 30 seconds after the car was down and that didnt solve my problems. I never had an issue connecting of disconnecting so pressure wasnt an issue in my case at least. I completely understand what you're saying about maintaining pressure in the lines though and while that may be the case for some with leaky fittings I do not think that covers all cases of leaky fittings. QuickJack is pretty good about sending new fittings out if you email them saying the leak so i think they know it's a problem sometimes. In my case i believe only 1 hose fitting and 1 fitting on the pump leaked. It was never a dangerous level of leaking but i didnt like having to put paper towels under my pump each time i used it so i just went with all new fittings. Holding the summit fitting next to the QJ fittings I'll say the summit fittings do feel better quality and i believe are a bit bigger.

i think most QJ's end up leak free thankfully but there's plenty of cases of mild leaks just on this forum alone. Still a great product imo i use mine all the time

I haven't heard anyone complain of the hoses. I assume they hold up well and don't need to be upgraded?

Hey guys, stop whining about how a box looks. When I got mine the hydraulic pistons made a lot of noise and weren't working properly. They shipped replacements and didn't even ask for the bad parts. Basically took my word for it.
Every time I use the unit I think of what the option would be without the QJ

Hoses are fine... meaning they are normal hydraulic lines and a PITA to coil up!

love the product, sorry to hear about your items woes. ive had mine going on 3 years i think, just had to replace the quick connects on the hose and the power unit. QJ sent me a new pair for free, despite out of warranty, since ive had no issues. I can see myself needing more couplers at some point as I think I dont use it enough to keep the orings healthy. thanks for those who posted the other option for new fittings

I may purchase those fittings in the near future too and just hold them for when I need. As long as this thing lasts, I’m good. I figured they wouldn’t admit it was less than par for new, but I couldn’t let it go without making an issue of it. Every time I hear that sand moving, I’ll curse the quality control team. Lol.

When I purchased mine in Oct. 2014 the boxes were strapped onto a pallet and delivered via semi truck. A fork lift was required to unload the pallet but fortunately one of our club members allowed me to have it delivered to his business where he used his forklift to transfer it to my trailer. The boxes were in very good condition. I'm guessing that they no longer deliver this way because of the fork lift requirement.

Just received my 5000SLX today. The tape on the motor/pump box was split open but the strapping was intact. The blister pack inside was broken open but it appears all the parts are there. The jacks themselves were packed very well. A piece of 3/16 plywood covered the top and bottom of the boxes. The boxes were wrapped in plastic wrap. No dust/dirt/rust on any of the parts but the jacks do have some foreign material inside the frames that tumble when either end is lifted. It sounds too large to be "sand". It doesn't bother me though because it should not affect the function of the product. I will probably assemble the product this weekend.

Sounds like they are trying to update the packaging/shipping! You're going to love the QuickJack!
