The after market shift **** is a great idea. Especially since it's a little lower. I'll check into that. I am going to purchase the TMOD lower box since as one commenter mentioned is better than stock components and might tighten up the shifts. I can always go to the MGW later if I feel I need to. But based on my type of driving and the comments,.a lower box with better components and a shift **** might do the trick. We will see.

If you get the tmod box and that's not quite where you want to be I would highly recommend going with the Callaway instead of the MGW. At that point, from my actual experience with both, the Callaway is a much better choice. I honestly don't think it's stiffer than the MGW but I do think it shifts better. I had the MGW for 15,000 miles and the Callaway for a little over 3,000. With the tmod box it's the best shifter I've ever used.
All that said you may very well be satisfied with the tmod box and factory shifter. I'd recommend that over the MGW.

Yeah I have seen a couple of posts in different threads by you. I will try that if the lower box and and after market shift **** doesn't work. Plus the Callawy is just the shaft so it will work with the TMOD lower box. I searched about shift ***** on the forum and it makes the shifter look a little lower and that may be all I need. Now I just need to pick out a shift **** lol.
somehow this guy missed the 20 threads about MGW =)
after you get your mgw, also replace the factory manual transmission fluid with redline D4, its a big improvement. the factory fill is crap and is at least partly responsible for the notchy shifting usually before warmed up, the 1->2 nonsense and so on.
you can get the stuff off amazon, most of the time a local store wont have it in stock. they then immediately say oh we can order it etcetc.. and its like well no ****, of course you can, but i myself can do the same thing. thanks amazon =D
Lol. I didnt search under MGW. I did change my transmission fluid about three weeks ago and it did make an improvement but I didnt use Redline D4. There was about 4,500 miles on the corvette and it still had factory fluid in there. It was full though and wasn't low like some have said it comes from the factory. I also searched about that. I am going to switch to Redline D4 now. I didnt notice anything wrong with the factory fluid it still looked good actually.
You might consider a really easy variant of a short throw shifter: a round cue ball type of ****. They're available; and they mount just like your stock **** -- one screw. With the round **** installed, the top of the **** will be lowered by about one inch from stock position, and the throw, fore and aft, will be reduced by about 1/2 inch. This is what I use on my current C7 Z06, and it works very well for me. I actually prefer it to several brands of short-throw shifters that I've tried. (Looks like Avanti, above, beat me to the punch with this idea, so you have two of us suggesting this solution.)

Can you please recommend the ball type **** you use , i love the stock shifter and just looking for a custom **** that would lower the stock height which may make the shifter more direct.

Interested in the aftermarket shift **** idea and anything you can recommend that works great with the stock shifter. Preferably weighted shift **** will be better.
I did the TMOD lower and short throw with 20%. I just installed it Friday. I love it! All the play in the assembly is pretty much eliminated compared to stock. The price was great and install is relatively easy. Just trim pieces and a little elbow grease.

Im really happy with my MGW. Easy install and looks great.
I've had an MGW in four of my six Vettes, past and present. I even resisted (check my past threads) because I thought the C7 was the best stock manual of any Vettes I've owned (C5, C6) but I drove another C7 with the MGW and well, Mr. VISA to the rescue. My mechanical skills, unfortunately are lacking and after spending hours installing one (we own an African Grey Parrot and this is when he learned to cuss with gusto) I left this last one to my Vette mechanic Mark at Titus-Will in Olympia, WA. Short, sharp and sweet (the shifter, not the mechanic). Good luck.

I just purchased a RPI Design black shift **** with silver pattern and stingray logo. From pictures looks lower than stock ****. It doesn't specifically state if its weighted though.

I was eyeing that too but read somewhere the bezzel does not fit like the stock one causing vibrations, anyone using this **** can confirm that?
I ordered one a while back in black with yellow but don't have it yet. This is metal instead of plastic and I have no idea how it will fit. If it's tight it should be better than stock but if not it could be a lot worse. I fixed the vibrations in my stock **** on an aftermarket shifter with o-rings on the shaft. That's a pain though.
^^^ Just a note regarding the stock shift ****. If you want to use the stock **** with MGW be sure to order the conventional Short Throw Shifter and not the Flat version.
