The general manager just started taling to me. He said right off the bat the car at criswells is silver and not a desirable color. He said they normally dont discount ttheir cars but where do I need to be and he will see what he can do. But he said he could not get anywhere near Criswells price...
Waverly is a small town in southern Ohio . I bet the population can't be more that 10,000 or so !! I'd be surprised if they deal a whole lot , small town dealers can be stubborn sometimes . I have older friends that live there . Pretty poor part of Ohio !

In March I purchased a 2016 coupe, Z51, M7, MagRide, PDR, forged wheels, 2LT TR coupe.
Had 14,990 miles on the odo.
Paid 43k. It was about 1k higher than I wanted, but, it was the car I wanted.
Only you can decide what the car is worth to you.
I have found that with a lot of things, cars included, once you put in the critical mass of effort to figure out just what it is you want out of it, you will know it when you first lay eyes on it.
The guy kept the price at 53900 and offered me 33500 for my car essentially I was going to be giving him my car. The car would end up being 48700 which is book value. So I would give him book value and my car. For 72 months at $800 per month!!!!
I guess he thought I was from SC and couldn't do math!

Yeah, that is a huge rip off. I would walk away from that "deal" in a heartbeat. That car just isn't worth anywhere near what they have it priced at. Best advice I can give you is to keep looking. There are plenty of real deals popping up every day and unless this was the car of your dreams and you knew for a fact that this opportunity would never come up again, and you couldn't live without this particular car, then that would be one thing. But I don't think that's the case. You can do much better.

The 2016 coupe I bought was on the showroom floor for 7 weeks.
The reason was the M7. I was torn between the TR coupe and a VY 2016 M7 convertible in PA.
The vert had 35k miles and they wanted $39,000. I just felt the coupe was better suited for my DD.
I traded a 2012 A6, 3LT Inferno Orange Metallic convertible. That car sold within 12 days.
While M7s are all the rage on the forum, not everyone wants one. You just need to find a dealer that is sitting on one and ready to deal.
CarGurus lists the time on the web and you can use the Carfax to determine how long a car has been for sale at a dealer.

the time factor is a great tool when trying to get the price down.
For example per CarGurus my C7 had 4 price drops over 2 months so I made my offer at month's end factoring in the next price drop. Plus it was September in NJ so the summer driving season was coming to end. With the car still sitting on the lot my offer would get them the same money but two weeks sooner. After some back and forth they agreed this scenario was likely and thus the deal was done.
The M7 comment is interesting.
With todays automatics being so good I can see many steering away from manual cars now, plus younger people have no interest in shifting they want a paddle to play with
I feel your pain. Lots of good comments here. I'll add one more. I looked for MONTHS as spending so much money I was not about to compromise on ANYTHING. Only way to get exactly what i wanted (check all the boxes) was to buy new. Maybe I was lucky but last August was just about the perfect time to get great discounts plus loyalty bonus. Only down side was the pathetic trade in offer so I ended selling my C5 privately.
Years ago a friend bought a new car and spent three weeks bragging about the great deal he got and then spent three years bitching about the color he hated !
