Hi all. Just purchased a 2014 Stingray 2LT with 4200 miles on it. It quickly became apparent that It came with the wonderful random screen flicker. It is going to the Chevy dealership this week as they think it needs a firmware update. In doing my research I don’t believe that will fix it. Also in doing my research I have noticed that there seems to be two differently wired screen modules. Most seem to have two thick blue wires on the bottom left side and some have two thin black wires. Does anyone know what the deal is with this? Was one an earlier design and the other the improved design? Mine has the thin black wires. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The HMI modules were updated to the 2.5 version in 2016. The 2.5 version offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Here’s a recent post in the parts for sale section with photos of both HMI modules.
the top one is the revision that they just put in my 2015, the loop is supposed to keep the wires from rubbing and eventually breaking. mine started with a random flicker, then one day out of the blue it just quit working. it was a $980 repair, the bad thing is it could be one of three parts, the display, the hmi module, another random part. since i wasnt convinced, i took it to the dealership. would rather pay them and know rather than get a $500 display and find out it was the hmi module

Thank you Travlee! I suspected mine was still the original one. I pulled the side console trim off and the small triangle plastic piece in the front console and was able to wiggle the wires and get it to flicker. I feel fairly confident it’s the display. I will see what the dealership has to say this week.
prob the same thing mine was, needless to say .. now i dont keep my sunglasses behind it, i was essentially raising and lowering it twice every time i got in the car
Thanks again! I’ve read that thread in my research. It sure is a lot to take apart but luckily there’s a lot of great information out there on how to disassemble the dash and center console. Hopefully I won’t have to go that route but if I have to it doesn’t seem too bad. Hell I’ve nearly completely disassembled my C4 and put it back together so I should be ok. Lol
